Qatar Airways finalizes purchase of 25 Boeing 737 MAX 10 jets

It seems like the Boeing 737 MAX 10 or 737-10 is slowly gaining traction. After Delta announced the purchase of 100 737 MAX 10 jets, Qatar Airways finalized the purchase of up to 25 Boeing 737 MAX 10 jets for its narrowbody aircraft requirements. The B737 MAX 10 is the largest variant of the 737 family.

The signing was held at the Farnborough International Airshow 2022.

In a statement from Boeing, Qatar Airways announced a Memorandum of Understanding for 737 MAX airplanes at a ceremony in Washington, D.C. In addition, the airline became the global launch customer for the new 777-8 Freighter, with an order for up to 50 freighters. The 737 orders are at $3.4 billion in list prices.

The planes will be used to serve Qatar Airways regional expansion.

Boeing is making a rebound

After two fatal crashes of the Boeing 737 MAX and the 2-decade grounding of the aircraft, Boeing made a strong comeback during this Farnborough Air Show. Earlier, Delta announced the purchase of 100 Boeing 737 MAX 10 with options of 30 more. However, the MAX faces a deadline in December to get the MAX 10 certified. According to Reuters, they would need to comply with a requirement for an electronic warning system that is different from other variants, or else seek a Congressional waiver.

The 737-10 or the 737 MAX 10 is Boeing’s answer to Airbus’ A321neo. It can sit 230 passengers in a single class layout and has a range 3,300 nautical miles. The Boeing 737 MAX 10 is powered by CFM LEAP 1B turbofan engines.
