PAL extends Flight Hour Services deal with Airbus

Philippine Airlines (PAL) signed a new agreement with Airbus for Flight Hour Services. The deal covers PAL’s Airbus widebody and narrowbody fleets and gives the airline more maintenance support across day-to-day operations. PAL aims to keep more aircraft available for flights and keep maintenance costs easier to plan over time.

The updated contract covers nine A350-1000 aircraft, 11 A330 Family aircraft, and 43 A320 Family aircraft. Airbus will support PAL through standard exchange for components, component repairs, component reliability work, and engineering services. The agreement also includes on-site stock at PAL’s main base in Manila, Philippines, so the airline can access key parts faster when issues come up.

What the new agreement covers

Flight Hour Services works as a support package that links maintenance coverage to aircraft use. Airlines often use these programs to reduce surprise costs and avoid long waits for parts. PAL will rely on Airbus for component support that can help speed up repairs and keep aircraft in service, especially when multiple fleets share the same base and maintenance teams.

Airbus and PAL started working under Flight Hour Services in 2018, when Airbus supported PAL’s A350-900 fleet. PAL expanded the partnership in 2022 to include the A320 and A330 fleets. This new deal extends that coverage again, so PAL now includes its full Airbus fleet in one support arrangement.

Flight Hour Services

“We thank Philippine Airlines for extending its Flight Hour Services agreements across its entire Airbus fleet to cover the A350, A330 Family and A320 Family. This demonstrates the strength of our long-standing partnership and our shared commitment to operational excellence,” said Anand Stanley, President Airbus Asia-Pacific. “By delivering comprehensive component support and on-site services in Manila, we are helping PAL optimise fleet performance while benefiting from predictable, long-term maintenance costs.”

Why airlines use Flight Hour Services

Airbus markets Flight Hour Services as a flexible maintenance option that helps airlines keep aircraft reliable and control total operating costs. Airbus uses its global support network, digital tools, and data to track parts performance and plan repairs before problems disrupt schedules.

Airbus also says Flight Hour Services leads Power-by-the-Hour component support for A330 and A350 material services. Airbus positions the program as a long-term solution that helps airlines plan maintenance spending and reduce operational disruptions.
