Air Canada Passenger Opens Cabin Door and Falls to the Ground

An ordinary flight for Air Canada turned into a dramatic episode on January 8, 2024, when a passenger on a Boeing 777-300ER unexpectedly opened the cabin door, leading to a serious fall and a significant delay. This unusual incident took place at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ), just before the flight was set to depart for Dubai at 9:35 pm local time.

As reported by CityNews Toronto, instead of heading to his seat like the other passengers, the individual made his way to the opposite end of the aircraft. In a shocking turn of events, he opened the cabin door of the Boeing 777, resulting in a fall onto the tarmac below. The height of the 777-300ER, as noted by Boeing, is 18.6 meters, with the aircraft door situated approximately six meters off the ground. This significant height likely contributed to the severity of the fall and the subsequent injuries sustained by the passenger.

The flight, initially slated for a 9:35 pm departure, eventually took off six hours later, in the early hours of January 9, 2024. This incident undoubtedly caused inconvenience and concern among the passengers and crew, altering travel plans and schedules.
