If you think Cebu Pacific is done with its shopping list, think again. The industry was blown away when Cebu Pacific announced the biggest single aircraft order in Philippine aviation history. Now, their pockets are not empty yet after that massive order. Just today, Cebu Pacific has purchased not just more planes but an airline as well. In a disclosure statement to the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE), Cebu Pacific purchased AirSwift from Ayala’s ALI Capital Corp. This now makes Cebu Air a 100% owner of AirSwift!
This deal has been approved by Cebu Pacific’s Board of Directors, signifying an important milestone in the airline’s growth strategy and further expansion of its network.
This acquisition allows both Cebu Pacific and AirSwift to strengthen their operations by focusing on their respective core business areas. For Cebu Pacific, this means the ability to enhance its network and services while maintaining efficiency. AirSwift, a boutique airline catering to the domestic leisure travel market, will continue its operations without changes to its flight schedules and service.
AirSwift operates flights from key hubs in Manila and Clark, connecting travelers to popular destinations such as El Nido in northern Palawan. From El Nido, passengers can also fly to other major tourist hotspots in the Philippines, including Cebu, Boracay, Coron, and Bohol. The acquisition will ensure that AirSwift’s service remains uninterrupted, maintaining its reputation as a preferred airline for leisure travelers within the Philippines.
AirSwift was previously owned by ALI Capital Corp., a fully-owned subsidiary of Ayala Land, Inc., the largest property developer in the Philippines. The decision to sell AirSwift aligns with Ayala Land’s focus on its core business areas while allowing Cebu Pacific to strengthen its presence in the domestic market.
Even after the acquisition, AirSwift’s operations will remain the same, offering travelers the same convenient routes and schedules. Cebu Pacific’s strategic acquisition will not affect current services, ensuring that customers can continue to enjoy seamless travel to some of the Philippines’ top tourist destinations.
