Despite the return to normalcy, AirAsia recently launched its internal campaign, Stronger Together, Safer Together, to encourage its employees, guests, and other stakeholders to never become complacent about practicing safety culture.
The world’s best low-cost airline attributes its resilience in the face of the pandemic to adherence to the highest safety standards espoused across all departments in the organization, all the way to its customer touchpoints. Its consistent commitment to providing guests with the most up-to-date travel information, as well as observing safety protocols on the ground and in flight, has not wavered over the last two years, despite the challenges posed by the global health crisis.
AirAsia Philippines CEO Ricky Isla said, “Safety across all touchpoints is our commitment to our guests. Our day-to-day learnings from the pandemic has allowed us to navigate and maintain a high level of safety which helped add confidence amongst our frequent flyers. More than providing affordable and reliable flights, we vow to ensure that not a single safety net is missed, as we value safety as much as we value human lives.”
To support its advocacy efforts, the World’s Best Low-Cost Airline launched a corporate-wide Safety Week across its airline operations centers. Allstars enjoyed walking through the various booths set up by participating departments to remind everyone of the importance of safety, which is not only limited to pandemics but also in times of calamity and natural disasters caused by typhoons, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and so on.
In terms of aircraft safety, one of the threats that affects day-to-day operations is bird strikes. Since January 2022, the airline has recorded 101 incidents of bird strikes, which is nearly 50% more than the number of incidents recorded in 2021. Damage to aircraft ranges from minor to moderate, and it is sometimes necessary to ground the aircraft.
“This is a growing concern among airlines. Collaborative efforts in partnership with regulatory bodies and industry partners have been going on to address this concern. The flight operations, corporate safety, engineering and quality assurance departments of AirAsia work hand-in-hand to make sure our aircraft go through thorough checks when these incidents happen. Our guests may experience flight disruptions because of this but AirAsia will never compromise safety,” added Isla.
The World’s Best Low-Cost Airline, which was recently recognized by Airlineratings.com as one of the top ten safest airlines in the world with 7/7 Safety and COVID-19 star ratings, has also assured its guests of the highest standards in safety compliance on all of its flights.
