AirAsia Philippines is gearing up for a busy summer season by ramping up its operations with new hires. The low-cost airline is adding more pilots, cabin, ground, and technical crew to support the steady growth in flight bookings, signaling a path to recovery after a challenging year.
In 2021, AirAsia Philippines hired 600 new flight and ground crew despite facing headwinds. And now, in the first two months of 2023, the airline has already hired 260 new employees, with plans to continue expanding its workforce to meet increasing demands.
Last year, AirAsia Philippines transported 500,000 passengers from its hubs in the Philippines. But this figure has already tripled as of February 28th, as forward bookings until December 2023 continue to soar. The airline is experiencing a surge in bookings, especially for popular domestic destinations like Bohol, Boracay, and Puerto Princesa, as well as international getaways such as Bangkok, Osaka, Tokyo, and Incheon.
AirAsia Philippines Communications and Public Affairs Head Steve Dailisan shares, “With the resumption of our Asean destinations and flight frequency expansion, which greatly contributes to our overall load factor, Airasia Philippines is continuously expanding our roster of flight and on ground crew to accommodate the projected travel demand growth among Filipino travelers this 2023 More than that, we want to offer an opportunity for aspiring Allstars to fulfill their dreams with us.”
