Cathay Pacific has officially started non-stop passenger flights between Hong Kong and Seattle, giving travelers the only direct link between Hong Kong and Washington State’s largest city. The new route operates five times a week and expands the airline’s North American passenger network to nine destinations.
The launch also forms part of Cathay Pacific’s 80th anniversary. The first Hong Kong-Seattle flight was operated by a special-edition Airbus A350 carrying the airline’s “lettuce leaf sandwich” livery, a nod to the brand’s early years and its history since 1946.
Cathay Chief Customer and Commercial Officer Lavinia Lau said: “As we celebrate ‘80 Years Together’ connecting Hong Kong with the world, the launch of our Seattle service highlights the deepening ties between two global centres of innovation, culture, and commerce. Seattle’s spirit of creativity and entrepreneurship mirrors Hong Kong’s own energy, making this route especially meaningful for us.
“Through the Cathay Group’s investment of well over HK$100 billion into our fleet, cabin products, lounges and digital innovation, we are committed to offering customers a seamless and elevated travel experience whether they are travelling to Hong Kong or connecting to onward destinations through our global network covering more than 100 destinations worldwide. This new service not only enhances connectivity for business and leisure travellers, but also reinforces our role in supporting Hong Kong’s position as a leading international aviation hub.”

Five weekly flights with Airbus A350 service
Cathay Pacific is operating the Seattle route with its Airbus A350-900 aircraft. The jet offers three cabin options, with fully flat beds in Business class, Premium Economy seats, and Economy class service.
From March 30 to May 31, 2026, and again from September 16 to October 24, 2026, flight CX852 leaves Hong Kong at 1:25 p.m. and arrives in Seattle at 10:05 a.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The return flight, CX853, leaves Seattle at 11:45 a.m. and reaches Hong Kong at 4:45 p.m. the next day on the same operating days.
From June 1 to September 15, 2026, the outbound flight still leaves Hong Kong at 1:25 p.m. but arrives in Seattle at 10:20 a.m. The return flight leaves Seattle at 12:25 p.m. and arrives in Hong Kong at 4:45 p.m. the following day. Cathay Pacific will continue running its flights to fit seasonal timing changes through the year.
Seattle gives Cathay another North America link
With Seattle now added, Cathay Pacific will operate close to 120 return flights a week this summer to nine passenger destinations in North America. Those destinations are Boston, Chicago, Dallas-Fort Worth, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, Seattle, Toronto, and Vancouver.
The new Seattle route also adds more cargo options. Cathay said the belly capacity on its passenger flights will support cargo demand alongside the nearly 40 weekly return freighter flights that Cathay Cargo operates to North America during the summer peak.
That gives the airline more room on both the passenger and cargo side as it builds up its network across the region.
