AirAsia X, the long-haul low-cost carrier, has recently resumed its flights between Kuala Lumpur and Beijing, signaling a step forward in expanding its network within China. The route from Kuala Lumpur International Airport to Beijing Daxing International Airport touched down in the Chinese capital at 1:05 a.m. local time on March 31st. This move showcases AirAsia X’s dedication to catering to the Chinese market, historically one of its largest and most popular destinations.
CEO Benyamin Ismail of AirAsia X Malaysia shared his enthusiasm for the resumed flights, stating, “Our service resumption to Beijing reflects our commitment to boosting our network in China, which has historically always been one of our biggest and most popular markets and providing our guests with more options to travel affordably from/to Kuala Lumpur.” The airline aims to make travel between the two cities more accessible, ultimately benefiting both the local and regional tourism sectors.
Looking ahead, AirAsia X has plans to further enhance its presence on this route. The airline is considering increasing the frequency to four weekly flights starting June 1st to cater to the growing forecast demand. This move is expected to further strengthen economic and tourism exchanges between China, the world’s second-largest economy, and the ASEAN region.
