AirAsia Aims to Serve More ASEAN Destinations from Cebu

AirAsia Philippines is on the move to increase its connectivity to other destinations within the country and in ASEAN by focusing on the Cebu hub. This airline offers a range of domestic and international flights that are set to grow further. With flights currently operating seven times daily from Manila to Cebu, and additional flights to various locations, AirAsia Philippines is determined to be a key player in the region.

Current Flight Operations and Future Plans

AirAsia Philippines currently flies three times weekly to Caticlan and Davao via Cebu. Meanwhile, international destinations like Narita (Tokyo), and Seoul (Incheon) receive daily flights, and Taipei gets a respectable four times weekly service.

Tony Fernandes, Capital A President and CEO, has openly expressed his excitement about expanding the airline’s operations in Cebu through AirAsia Philippines. He stated, “Our main growth will be in Cebu. Our team is now working out plans to grow flights to and from Cebu. As we speak, we now have Japan, South Korea, and China. We will do more flights to Bangkok and Bali connecting to Cebu.”

Cebu: A Must-Visit Destination and Major Hub

Cebu’s reputation as one of the must-visit destinations in the country, thanks to its beautiful white sand beaches, diving spots, and cultural heritage sites, makes it a promising hub for both leisure and business travelers. Its strategic location near provinces like Negros, Bohol, and Leyte, among others, adds to its appeal as a convenient meeting point for travelers.

Being nominated in the World Travel Awards 2023, Cebu continues to grow, with bustling business districts attracting corporate clients. Mr. Fernandes also emphasized the importance of improving major hubs such as Mactan-Cebu International Airport and Manila International Airport to attract more tourists.

Furthermore, Mr. Fernandes hinted at the introduction of the ride-hailing app airasia Ride to Cebu, suggesting a comprehensive plan to enhance transportation facilities for the public. “It’s about building facilities that fit the public. People think about Bali and Phuket, but in reality, there are equally beautiful places here, and the service quality is great,” he explained.

Special Offers and Travel Reminders

To add to the excitement, AirAsia is launching an incredible sale from August 7 to 13, 2023, with domestic flights starting at PHP88 and international flights ranging from PHP488 to PHP4,688. These offers are valid for travel between August 7 and September 30, 2023.

AirAsia is also keeping travelers informed about the new terminal assignment for domestic flights, which is now at NAIA Terminal 2, while international flights continue at NAIA Terminal 3. Due to the weather conditions in Metro Manila, guests are advised to plan ahead, allowing 3 hours for domestic flights and 4 hours for international flights. Regular updates can be found on the airasia flysafe page and AirAsia’s social media pages.
