Starting on September 17, 2024, Aeroflot will resume its direct flights from Moscow to Denpasar, Bali, after a three-year break caused by the coronavirus pandemic. The airline’s press service confirmed the return of these flights, marking a significant step in reconnecting Russia and Indonesia.
Aeroflot had been working to restore this route over the past year, in collaboration with various Russian and Indonesian governmental bodies. The efforts included the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation, the Indonesian Embassy in Russia, and the Russian-Indonesian Business Council. The request for the necessary flight slots was made in late July. On July 31, 2024, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto expressed his support for restoring direct flights between Moscow and Bali during his visit to Moscow, where he met with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Flight Schedule and Operations
The flights will operate twice a week from Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport. Flight SU296 will depart on Tuesdays and Saturdays at 2:40 PM local time, while the return flight, SU297, will leave Denpasar on Wednesdays and Sundays at 10:05 AM local time.
From October 3, 2024, Aeroflot will add a third weekly flight to this route. This additional flight will depart Moscow on Thursdays and return from Bali on Fridays. Ticket sales for these flights are already open, as announced by the airline’s press service.
