AirAsia Philippines is ramping up its international travel capacity, especially as the year-end holidays approach. The airline has seen a surge in forward bookings until December 2023, a time when many Filipinos are expected to travel abroad. “AirAsia Philippines continues to herald the return of international tourism through affordable and convenient flights,” said First Officer Steve Dailisan, the Country Head of Communications and Public Affairs for AirAsia Philippines.
Top Destinations and Flight Frequencies
As of October 2, 2023, popular destinations like Taipei, Incheon, Osaka, Narita, Hong Kong, and Bangkok have sold over 300,000 seats for travel in the next three months. AirAsia Philippines has also increased the frequency of its flights from NAIA Terminal 3 to various destinations. Flights to Guangzhou and Shenzhen operate four times a week, while flights to Kota Kinabalu, Kaohsiung, and Shanghai are available three times a week.
Plans are also in the works to introduce new routes to Japan and China via other airports like Clark International, Mactan-Cebu International, and Kalibo International. To make international travel even more appealing, AirAsia Philippines rolled out its Winter Deals from October 2 to October 8, 2023. These deals offer one-way base fares ranging from PHP 880 to PHP 4,590, depending on the destination.
Fuel Surcharge and Its Impact
The Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) has set the fuel surcharge for October at Level 6. This means additional fees ranging from PHP 610.37 to PHP 844.16 per one-way trip per passenger for APAC destinations. However, AirAsia Philippines expects this to have a minimal impact on ticket prices. “We invite our guests to take advantage of ongoing sales as tickets bought under existing promos will no longer be affected by any future fuel surcharge,” Dailisan noted.
AirAsia Philippines is making strong moves to boost international travel, especially as the holiday season approaches. With increased flight frequencies, new routes on the horizon, and special deals, the airline is set to make international travel more accessible for Filipinos.
