AirAsia Philippines increases flights to more international routes

AirAsia Philippines is kicking off October with over 2,000 seats sold at the recent Philippine Travel Mart event over the weekend.

The World’s Best Low-Cost Airline ended September with an average passenger load of 85% for both domestic and international travel, and increased prospective bookings for the “Ber” months, known as the Philippines’ longest holiday celebration.

AirAsia anticipates a steady increase in flight bookings, particularly as more international borders open with fewer restrictions and greater convenience in travel requirements.

The top domestic destinations booked by Filipino travelers in Q4 2022 are Caticlan (60%), Tagbilaran (55%), Tacloban (55%), Puerto Princesa (50%), and Cebu (40%).

Seoul, Osaka, Bangkok, Taipei, and Kuala Lumpur are the most popular international destinations.

AirAsia Philippines Spokesperson and Head of Communications and Public Affairs Steve Dailisan said, “The increased bookings for travel this Q4 2022 to Q2 2023 is a strong indication that the demand for travel has returned. And AirAsia is more than ready to sustain the appetite of Filipino travelers by increasing its flight frequency and opening more international destinations. The relaxed travel protocols in various countries have also contributed to more overseas workers taking the opportunity to fly home to the Philippines to spend the holidays with their loved ones in the provinces.”
