Let’s dive into the key factors behind the airline’s strong comeback and take a closer look at their ambitious plans for the future.
AirAsia Philippines is also making a strong recovery after posting an impressive 92% load factor in the 1st quarter of 2023, one of the highest across all AirAsia airline operations centers. The recovery can be attributed to a resurgence in both domestic and international travel, with the airline continuing to expand its offerings in the coming quarters.
Remarkable Q1 Performance
The airline saw a significant increase in flight frequency, seat capacity, and passenger numbers from January to March 2023, almost reaching 84% of pre-pandemic levels. AirAsia Philippines sold 1.4 million seats in the 1st quarter, an 8% rise compared to the previous quarter, while sales on international seats skyrocketed by 70%. The full recovery of the Philippine domestic market and stronger demand for international destinations played a crucial role in achieving this milestone.
Looking Ahead Expanding Destinations and Hubs
Steve Dailisan, AirAsia Philippines Communications and Public Affairs Country Head, said, “AirAsia Philippines intends to sustain the momentum by opening more international destinations this 2nd and 3rd quarter. We expect these developments to encourage more guests to fulfill their travel plans as we impact the speedy recovery of the travel and tourism industry. To sustain our momentum, the airline continues with the push to return to service more aircraft which will be assigned to our Cebu, Clark, and Kalibo hubs.”
Top-performing routes from the Manila Hub include Puerto Princesa, Tagbilaran, Boracay, Narita, Osaka, and Macao, thanks to the full restoration of AirAsia’s domestic and international routes. The Cebu Hub also saw great success with Puerto Princesa and Boracay routes.
Attractive Promotions and Travel Experience
To further entice guests to fulfill their travel plans, AirAsia Philippines is offering a PHP 55 one-way base fare from its Manila, Cebu, and Clark hubs to domestic and international destinations such as Davao, Cagayan De Oro, Seoul, Kaohsiung, Guangzhou, and Tokyo for flights booked until May 7 and utilized until November 30, 2023.
The airline encourages passengers to enhance their travel experience by using the airasia Super App’s mobile check-in capabilities or self-check-in kiosks available at the airport to avoid queues at the check-in counters.
AirAsia Philippines has demonstrated a strong recovery path, with impressive 1st quarter results highlighting the resurgence of both domestic and international travel. The airline’s commitment to expanding its destinations, bolstering its hubs, and offering attractive promotions makes it an appealing choice for travelers eager to explore the world once again. As AirAsia Philippines continues to grow and adapt, it will undoubtedly play a significant role in revitalizing the travel and tourism industry in the coming months and years.
