AirAsia Philippines is also making a strong recovery after posting an impressive 92% load factor in the 1st quarter of 2023, one of the highest across all AirAsia airline operations centers. The recovery can be attributed to a resurgence in both domestic and international travel, with the airline continuing to expand its offerings in the coming quarters.

Remarkable Q1 Performance

The airline saw a significant increase in flight frequency, seat capacity, and passenger numbers from January to March 2023, almost reaching 84% of pre-pandemic levels. AirAsia Philippines sold 1.4 million seats in the 1st quarter, an 8% rise compared to the previous quarter, while sales on international seats skyrocketed by 70%. The full recovery of the Philippine domestic market and stronger demand for international destinations played a crucial role in achieving this milestone.

Looking Ahead Expanding Destinations and Hubs

Steve Dailisan, AirAsia Philippines Communications and Public Affairs Country Head, said, “AirAsia Philippines intends to sustain the momentum by opening more international destinations this 2nd and 3rd quarter. We expect these developments to encourage more guests to fulfill their travel plans as we impact the speedy recovery of the travel and tourism industry. To sustain our momentum, the airline continues with the push to return to service more aircraft which will be assigned to our Cebu, Clark, and Kalibo hubs.”
