AirAsia Philippines is gearing up for some flight adjustments as the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) undergoes corrective maintenance and repair of their Communication Navigation System-Air Traffic Management (CNS-ATM) on May 17, 2023. The airline is working closely with industry partners to ensure passenger safety and minimize inconvenience during this crucial period.
Flight Rescheduling and Cancellations
In a consultative meeting with key industry leaders, AirAsia Philippines proposed rescheduling 21 flights on May 16 and retiming 13 flights, while canceling 6 flights on May 17. The proposed rescheduling includes both international flights to Taipei, Incheon, Bangkok (Don Mueang), Kota Kinabalu, and Incheon, as well as domestic flights to Cebu, Bacolod, Davao, Puerto Princesa, Cagayan, Iloilo, and Tacloban. The canceled flights involve routes from Manila to Davao, Cebu, and Bacolod and their corresponding return flights during the 6-hour repair window from 12:00 midnight to 6:00 AM on May 17.
Supporting Safer Skies
Steve Dailisan, AirAsia Philippines Communications and Public Affairs Country Head, said, “The repair of the CNS-ATM system is a positive development towards ensuring safer skies for all, especially within the Philippine Flight Information Region (FIR). AirAsia Philippines is expressing its support to our industry partners in this crucial exercise. We’ve been working closely with them since the beginning to mitigate any inconvenience among our guests. This involves our request with the slot committee for the retiming of our flights that will be affected due to the repair.”
AirAsia Philippines has made extensive preparations to notify affected passengers in advance through SMS and registered email about the flight schedule changes. The airline has also launched a comprehensive information dissemination campaign via its media partners and social media pages. Guests affected by the flight disruptions can choose from Standard Recovery Options (SROs) such as move flight, rebooking, credit account, or refund through AskBo on the airasia Superapp.
