Balikbayans continue to drive AirAsia Philippines’ increase in bookings

The demand for domestic travel continues to rise as travel restrictions continue to ease. Balikbayans and foreign tourists continue to flock to the country’s beautiful islands once again after two years of being confined in their homes. AirAsia Philippines‘ forward bookings did increase for June and July, driven by balikbayans and foreign tourists.

Toping AirAsia’s domestic route list are Caticlan, Kalibo, Puerto Princesa, Cagayan de Oro, and Cebu.

According to AirAsia, the increase in bookings was brought by foreign tourists and balikbayans have booked flights to different island destinations such as Boracay-Caticlan (52%), Tacloban (14%), Cebu (17%), Kalibo (14%), Tagbilaran (17%) and Puerto Princesa (14%).  Top destinations visited by foreign travelers for May include Caticlan (23%), Cebu (14%), Tagbilaran (10%), and Kalibo (8%).
