Starting September 16 and lasting until October 3, Emirates is going all out to celebrate Oktoberfest. If you’re flying to or from German cities like Munich, Hamburg, Düsseldorf, and Frankfurt, get ready for a treat. The airline is serving up traditional Bavarian food and German entertainment on these flights. And it’s not just in the air; you’ll find the Oktoberfest spirit in select airport lounges too.
The airline is offering a full Bavarian meal for lunch and dinner. You can expect to find a starter, main course, and dessert. And yes, they’ve got Loewenbrau beer to wash it all down.
What’s on the Menu?
In First and Business Class, the appetizers include Obatzda, Emmental and cream cheese with radishes, hard-boiled egg, and cornichons. For the main course, you can choose between slow-cooked veal cheeks with braised red cabbage and bread dumplings, or fleischpflanzerl, which is a tasty minced beef steak. The meals come with a choice of classic Kaiser roll, Austrian roll, and garlic bread swirls. For dessert, First Class passengers will get Apfelstrudel with vanilla sauce, while Business Class passengers can enjoy German Apple Cake.
Economy passengers aren’t left out. They’ll get roasted chicken with paprika, potato wedges, and braised red cabbage. Dessert is a moist apple cake with almonds and vanilla sauce.
More Than Just Food
But it’s not just about the food. Emirates is also offering a range of German entertainment options. You’ll find up to 45 German movies and over 300 Hollywood movies dubbed in German. Music lovers can enjoy 28 playlists and albums of German music from a library of 6,500 channels.
In the airport lounges in Munich and Düsseldorf, you’ll find dishes like Käsepätzle, which is the German take on mac and cheese, and a variety of other light bites.
Before you land, Emirates gives passengers a parting gift of individually wrapped gingerbread hearts with Oktoberfest decoration. It’s a nice touch to end a flight filled with German culture and cuisine.
So, if you’re flying Emirates to or from Germany during this period, you’re in for a real treat.
