Travel between the Philippines and Dubai could become simpler, and journeys to other destinations might open up. Representatives from Emirates and Philippine Airlines (PAL) recently met in Dubai, at the Arabian Travel Market. Their discussions centered on the possibility of expanding their current working relationship to offer the public better flight times and services.
One of the main ideas they talked about was a possible code-sharing agreement. This kind of agreement means that each airline could sell seats on some of the other’s flights. For travelers, this could mean more options for flights between the Philippines and Dubai. It could also extend to other cities that each airline flies to beyond these main connection points.
A code-sharing arrangement holds the promise of enhanced connectivity for passengers. Travelers could potentially gain access to new destinations that are not currently served by each airline on its own. This could all be managed with the ease of a single ticket purchase, one set of fare rules, and a consistent baggage policy for the entire trip. This streamlined approach aims to make international travel less complicated.

Beyond just passenger flights, Emirates and PAL are also looking at ways to work more closely on cargo services. This could lead to smoother and more efficient movement of goods between their networks. They also plan to share their best methods for handling things at airports, providing food on flights, aircraft maintenance, and training their technical staff. To help people in the media and the travel industry understand these potential changes, the airlines are also considering organizing joint familiarization trips.
Emirates and Philippine Airlines already work together
Emirates and PAL first established a better interline agreement back in March 2023. This existing agreement already helps travelers connect easily to ten different cities within the Philippines using Cebu and Clark as transfer points. It also helps people connect to nine international cities through Dubai. Because of this current cooperation, passengers have experienced smoother travel across both airlines’ routes, including the convenience of checking their bags through to their final destination.

Emirates started flying to Manila in 1990. Since then, the airline has steadily increased its operations in the country. This growth now includes a route that goes to both Cebu and Clark. Currently, Emirates operates 28 flights every week to and from the Philippines. These flights offer about 22,700 seats each week, connecting travelers between Dubai and over 140 destinations around the world on the Emirates network.
Showing its dedication to the Filipino market, Emirates recently opened its first Emirates World Store in Southeast Asia. This store is in Manila and represents the airline’s focus on providing Filipinos with high-quality service from the moment they book a flight until they board the plane.
