Little-Known Passenger Habits that Make Flight Attendants Happy

Little-Known Passenger Habits that Make Flight Attendants Happy

Cabin crew members will treat each passenger equally, regardless of how you treat them. An exception is if you become unruly and may be deemed a safety hazard on board, thus a red flag. Nevertheless, there are passenger habits that do annoy cabin crew members, and there are some that they greatly appreciate. Here, we name some little-known passenger habits that make flight attendants happy. They truly will understand these.

Greeting and saying thank you to your cabin crew.

Cabin crew members will greet every passenger who boards the aircraft; even if they are very used to being snubbed, they highly appreciate a small gesture of being greeted. There is nothing wrong with greeting your cabin crew back; it just shows that you acknowledge their presence. Greeting them around is also a high form of respect. This makes flight attendants happy no matter what.

Following all safety instructions.

Seatbelts on, tray tables stowed, window shades up, seats in an upright position. All these are basic instructions everyone has to follow. There are some passengers, though,  that need not be told. They do it automatically once they sit down.  The cabin crew loves it when they see passengers who give importance to these safety instructions.

Paying attention to the safety demo.

Emergencies may happen anytime, and every passenger should know what to do in the event of an unlikely situation. The cabin crew appreciates it when passengers fully pay attention to the safety demo. This means that these passengers are taking safety seriously.

Being patient.

When you press the call bell for assistance, your cabin crew may or may not get there right away, especially during meal services. So when you press that call button, relax and wait for your cabin crew. Once they arrive, talk to them nicely and don’t forget to say “thank you.”

Commending them for their work.

Regardless of whether what they had done was exemplary or within standards, some passengers simply commend their flight attendants for a job well done and thank them for ensuring their safety.

Properly disposing off their trash.

Cabin crew members love it when passengers dispose of their trash in the proper places and do not just leave them on the floor. In some airlines, cabin crew members are made to clean the cabin in preparation for the turnaround flight, and leaving a dirty house will not only get the cabin crew unnecessarily tired. It may delay the whole flight as well. So please keep the cabin clean.

Ensuring that the lavatory is clean and neatly arranged after use.

The lavatory is not only yours; another passenger will use it too. Cabin crew members love it when passengers are considerate enough to think of the next passenger who may use it by ensuring everything is clean and arranged. No more perfume or other items on the shelf? Just inform your cabin crew so they can replenish it with a new one.

Being considerate to other passengers as well.

In the United States, brawls between passengers aboard aircraft have been happening, and this is usually caused by one being inconsiderate of the other. The cabin crew loves it when passengers always put into consideration the welfare of others.

Lifting own luggage unto the overhead stowage compartments.

Though the cabin crew is not obliged to lift passenger luggage, they appreciate it if you know how to stow your luggage at the OSCs properly. However, if you need assistance because of some injury or are a PWD, your cabin crew is willing to lend some. Some airlines, though, have different rules where flight attendants are not even allowed to lend assistance. Any luggage that the passenger cannot stow themselves must be checked-in.

Last but not least, passengers who recognize the authority and give full respect to their cabin crew.

Yes, your flight attendants are there to give you a great and comfortable flight while ensuring your safety and security on board. Recognizing their authority means that you will obey their safety instructions as you know it is for you and that of others. Talk nicely to your cabin crew, and do not be too demanding. Cabin crew members love it when passengers know how to talk nicely.

Ordinary things like these can be extraordinary for others. Truly, these little gestures make your flight attendants happy.
