It’s a day for celebration as the Emirates brand extends its roots deeper into Canadian soil. With its maiden flight touching down in Montreal, Emirates has successfully launched its daily services to the city, marking a significant expansion of its Canadian network. The airline, celebrated for its exceptional passenger services, operates this route with a Boeing 777 aircraft, further bolstering its presence in Canada to 14 flights each week.
The inaugural flight, EK243, landed at Montreal Pierre Elliot Trudeau International Airport at 8:30 AM on July 5th. The arrival sparked excitement not just among airport officials and representatives from the aviation authorities, but also among aviation enthusiasts and the media, eager to document the much-anticipated event.
The Team Behind the Milestone
The notable figures from Emirates onboard included Adnan Kazim, Chief Commercial Officer; Salem Obaidalla, Senior Vice President of Commercial Operations – Americas; and David Broz, Vice President Aeropolitical and Industry Affairs. Upon their arrival, they were greeted by Essa Sulaiman Ahmad, Emirates’ Divisional Vice President – USA and Canada, and Shaz Peshimam, Emirates’ Country Manager for Canada.
In his remarks, Adnan Kazim, emphasized the importance of this new milestone for the airline. He stated, “Emirates is excited to launch our service to Montreal, growing our network with a second gateway into Canada. The introduction of these services is anticipated to positively influence tourism, business and trade in both countries.”
He further pointed out that the new service to Montreal, coupled with their services to Toronto, now provides customers more options for their travels to Canada. This could be for business or leisure purposes, for education, or even for visits to family and friends.
Montreal, A City of Possibilities
Philippe Rainville, President and Chief Executive Officer of ADM Aéroports de Montréal, shared his excitement, welcoming one of the world’s most prestigious airlines to YUL for the first time. This new route, as he highlighted, is particularly exciting news for an international airport like YUL. It will offer arrivals and departures at less crowded times, falling in line with ADM’s goal of providing more connections to popular destinations outside of peak travel times.
The introduction of Emirates’ daily services to Montreal will complement the airline’s seven weekly services to Toronto, bringing their total North American network to 14 destinations. These services are expected to give Canadian travelers more convenient access to Dubai and other popular destinations like Lebanon, India, Iran, Vietnam and Malaysia.
Yves Lalumière, President and CEO of Tourisme Montréal, added his enthusiasm stating that this direct flight would significantly contribute to the expansion of Montreal’s air network and reinforce the city’s position as a leading tourist destination.
Advancing Connectivity with Air Canada
Furthermore, the strategic partnership between Emirates and Air Canada allows their customers access to a broad network of destinations. Beyond the 130 destinations that Emirates flies to, customers can currently access 19 Canadian destinations beyond Toronto, while Air Canada customers can reach 17 cities in Africa, the Indian subcontinent, Middle East and Far East beyond Dubai.
Emirates passengers also have the option to choose from over 140 routes operated by Air Canada, including 27 points in Canada beyond Montreal and 53 routes between Montreal and the US and South America.
Experience Luxury Inflight and On the Ground
As part of its promise to let customers “fly better”, Emirates offers superior levels of comfort onboard, regionally-inspired dining and world-class entertainment across its fleet. Passengers traveling between Dubai and Montreal can get a taste of Canadian fare for breakfast and have endless entertainment options to choose from with its award-winning inflight entertainment system, ice.
In the end, the arrival of Emirates in Montreal is more than just a new flight route. It’s the fusion of cultures, the fostering of business relationships, and the creation of a bridge connecting the vibrant cities of Dubai and Montreal.
