The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) has announced the resumption of commercial flights at Pagadian Airport, starting May 16, 2024. This follows the completion of a crucial runway rehabilitation project that included repairing 34 concrete blocks. Originally scheduled for completion by May 15, the emergency repair finished ahead of schedule, wrapping up on April 24.
Edwin Luching, CAAP IX Area Center Manager, shared that “the complete works were finished on April 24, and after the 14-day curing process, the Notice to Airmen was lifted on May 13.” This allowed the airport to resume operations, which had been halted since April 15. Approximately 120 flights were affected during the runway closure, but passengers can now return to using Pagadian Airport for their travel needs.
The airport has also undergone improvements to the comfort rooms at the Passenger Terminal Building, ensuring a better experience for travelers. These enhancements were completed alongside the runway repairs.
Commitment to Safety and Service
The successful rehabilitation of the runway at Pagadian Airport demonstrates CAAP’s commitment to improving its services for the public. This project underscores CAAP’s dedication to ensuring the safety of all incoming and outgoing flights at the airport, thereby fostering confidence among travelers.
Passengers who had to alter their travel routes during the closure can now return to using Pagadian Airport. With the improvements in place, the airport is fully prepared to welcome back travelers and provide a smooth and safe travel experience.
