Philippine Airlines (PAL) is making strides in its on-time performance (OTP), according to a recent report from Cirium. The airline ranked seventh for on-time performance in the Asia Pacific region. This is a significant improvement, especially when you consider that PAL didn’t even make it to the top 10 in July.

The Cirium report showed that PAL had an on-time arrival rate of 75.36% in August. This is a big leap from July, when the airline wasn’t even in the top 10 for the Asia Pacific region. PAL’s performance puts it just behind Singapore Airlines and ahead of Vietnam Airlines, which had an OTP of 74.45%. Leading the pack among Asian carriers were AirAsia India with an OTP of 86.33% and Indigo at 84.98%.

Despite facing numerous obstacles like airport congestion, a shortage of aircraft, and ongoing issues with Pratt & Whitney GTF engines, PAL is committed to improving its services. The airline plans to reactivate some of its parked aircraft to boost its on-time performance even more.
Looking to the Future
PAL has more plans for improvement in the pipeline. Starting in 2025, the airline will begin taking delivery of nine brand-new Airbus A350-1000s. This is part of PAL’s broader strategy to enhance its services and prepare for an increase in travelers flying to and from the Philippines.
PAL is showing promising signs of improvement in its on-time performance, climbing to seventh place in the Asia Pacific region. Despite various challenges, the airline is taking steps to further improve its services and is looking ahead with plans for new aircraft deliveries.
