PAL is 18th Most On-Time Airline in the World, 3rd in Asia Pacific

On-time performance is crucial for airlines and significantly impacts passenger experience. No one wants to constantly face delays or cancellations. For Philippine Airlines, instances of delays and cancellations are steadily decreasing. According to two global aviation data and analytics providers, OAG and Cirium, PAL is ranked as the 18th most on-time airline globally and the 3rd most punctual in the Asia Pacific region.

Regarding the credibility of Cirium and OAG, they are globally recognized as reliable sources of aviation data and analytics. They provide accurate data to the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and various global airlines. Their data is far more reliable than information from informal sources like “maritess” or anecdotal social media posts based on personal experiences.

Data from both Cirium and OAG are not only reliable but also instrumental in guiding airlines in making critical decisions. These analytics provide essential insights that help shape airline strategies and operational efficiencies.

3rd Best On-Time Performance in Asia Pacific

According to Cirium, PAL attained an 84.27% on-time performance (OTP) rating for the month of November, with 99.90% of their flights being tracked. Out of a total of 9,192 PAL flights monitored, this impressive achievement positioned them as the third-best airline in the Asia Pacific region for OTP. Following PAL in the rankings are Peach Aviation and ANA. Surpassing PAL are Vietnam Airlines at the #2 spot and AirAsia, which holds the top position for on-time performance.

18th Best On-Time Performance in the World

According to a report from OAG, PAL ranked 18th globally in terms of the best on-time performance (OTP), achieving an OTP of 84.40% after monitoring 9,237 flights. This ranking places them just two spots behind Qatar Airways and one below Hong Kong Airlines. Close on PAL’s heels are Southwest Airlines from the USA and Xiamen Air from China, based on the best OTP for November 2023.

When averaging PAL’s OTP figures provided by both Cirium and OAG, the airline appears to be maintaining an OTP around 84.3%.
