Philippine Airlines is gearing up for an exciting phase of growth. PAL has announced plans to welcome nine A350-1000s, starting in 2025. These widebody jets are not just any planes; they’re set to operate some of the world’s longest commercial flights. This move marks a significant step for the airline, reflecting its optimism about the future of both the Philippine aviation sector and the national economy.
While acknowledging the potential economic challenges in the global market, PAL spokesperson Cielo Villaluna expressed confidence in the airline’s strategy. The focus remains on expanding the route network and fleet, aligning with market demands and bolstering the tourism industry. The commitment to these new Airbus jets, made in May 2023, demonstrates the airline’s dedication to enhancing its services, especially to the United States, and potentially revisiting European markets. The delivery of these aircraft is scheduled through 2027, with an option to acquire three additional jets if needed.
PAL boasts a diverse fleet that’s ready to take on these new challenges. Alongside the upcoming A350-1000s, the airline has thirteen A321neos on order. Its current lineup includes three A320-200s, eighteen A321-200s, eight A321neos, eleven A330-300s, two A350-900s, and nine B777-300ERs. With flights to 72 destinations across 22 countries, Philippine Airlines is set to expand its global footprint further with these new additions.
