United Airlines is set to enhance its international network by introducing daily nonstop flights from Guam to Tokyo Haneda International Airport, starting May 1. This new service aims to provide travelers with a more direct connection to Japan’s bustling capital, leveraging Haneda’s closer proximity to the city center. The addition of these flights to United’s schedule underscores the airline’s commitment to expanding its global presence and offering more travel options to its customers.
The launch of the Guam-Tokyo Haneda route marks a big step in United’s efforts to strengthen international ties and increase accessibility between these two destinations. Patrick Quayle, United’s Senior Vice President of Global Network Planning and Alliances, highlighted the importance of the new route in providing customers with more choices and enhancing the connectivity between Tokyo’s most accessible airport and United’s Guam hub. The initiative has received support from the Department of Transportation, recognizing the route’s value to passengers and stakeholders alike.
The flight is scheduled to leave Guam at 7:00 PM, arriving in Haneda at 10:00 PM the same day. The return flight from Haneda is set for 11:55 PM, reaching Guam at 4:45 AM the following day, utilizing a Boeing 737-800. This scheduling provides a seamless travel experience for those journeying between Guam and Tokyo.
United’s Pioneering Role in Guam
United Airlines boasts a long-standing presence in Guam, operating as the island’s largest airline with over 87 weekly flights to 14 destinations. With a history of more than 55 years in Guam, United stands out as the sole carrier connecting Guam with key Japanese cities such as Osaka, Fukuoka, and Nagoya, as well as destinations in the Federated States of Micronesia, Marshall Islands, and Palau.
The addition of the Guam-Tokyo Haneda route expands United’s daily flights from Haneda to six, including services to major U.S. cities like New York/Newark, Washington D.C., Chicago, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, alongside the new Guam service. Furthermore, United maintains a robust schedule of 10 daily flights to Tokyo’s Narita airport, reinforcing its position as the U.S. airline with the most seats to Tokyo.
