Emirates Will Use A380 Superjumbos on All Flights to Sydney

Starting November 4, 2023, Emirates is making a big move in Sydney by upgrading its third daily flight to an all-A380 service. This change will add nearly 2,000 extra seats every week. The airline already fills all three of its slots at Sydney Airport, so this is a way to offer more without adding more flights.

More Seats and More Options

The A380 service will have a three-class configuration with 489 seats. It will replace the Boeing 777-300ER that’s currently being used for flights EK 416 and 417. This switch means each return flight will offer more than 260 extra daily seats. It also opens up more connection options to and from Dubai, as well as to other popular destinations in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. This third A380 service will join the other two A380 services to Sydney, which both feature Emirates’ latest Premium Economy cabin.

A Growing Presence in Australia

Emirates isn’t just focusing on Sydney. The airline currently has 63 weekly services to Australia, providing nearly 56,000 seats to and from its four major gateways in the country. Melbourne and Sydney have three daily flights, Brisbane gets two daily flights, and Perth enjoys a daily A380 service. Emirates has also brought back services from Melbourne to Singapore and connected Sydney with Christchurch, giving travelers the only A380 experience across the Trans-Tasman.

Future Plans and Adelaide Return

Looking ahead, the introduction of the Emirates Airbus A350 in the summer of 2024 will allow for even more growth. The new aircraft will free up more of Emirates’ long-range planes to serve places like Adelaide. The airline is talking with Adelaide Airport about restarting nonstop services, showing its commitment to connecting every part of Australia to its network.

Emirates

The third A380 service to Sydney will leave Dubai at 9:30 p.m. and arrive in Sydney at 6:20 p.m. local time. The return flight will leave Sydney at 9:10 p.m. and get to Dubai at 4:30 a.m. local time.

A380 Continues to Expand

Emirates keeps adding its A380 to more routes to meet growing global travel demand. The airline currently flies the A380 to over 50 destinations and plans to add more in the coming months.

To wrap it up, Emirates is adding more A380 services to its Sydney route, providing more seats and connection options for travelers. The airline continues to grow its presence in Australia and has plans for further expansion with the introduction of new aircraft in 2024.
