Turkish Airlines has recently sealed a deal with DAE Capital for ten Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft. These new additions, scheduled for delivery in 2025, are part of Turkish Airlines’ strategic plan to enhance its fleet capabilities and maintain its position as a leading airline.
Currently, Turkish Airlines boasts a robust lineup of twenty-seven Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft. The fleet is further bolstered by an additional three MAX 8s, wet-leased from SmartLynx Airlines Malta. A portion of its in-house MAX 8 fleet, seven to be exact, serves the AnadoluJet/AJet division. Alongside these, the airline operates five 737 MAX 9s, adding to its diverse range of aircraft.

In terms of direct orders, Turkish Airlines hasn’t placed any for the 737 MAX. However, it’s gradually increasing its MAX fleet through dry-lease agreements. Existing commitments include six aircraft from CDB Aviation and twenty-five from AerCap. Adding to its Boeing portfolio, SunExpress, a joint venture with Lufthansa Group where Turkish Airlines holds a significant stake, has recently ordered forty-five B737 MAX, with an option for an additional forty-five.
Interestingly, Turkish Airlines’ direct narrowbody orders are predominantly with Airbus, totaling 196 A321neo aircraft. Despite this, Turkish Airlines is expected to place a significant order for Boeing aircraft soon, balancing its fleet with both Airbus and Boeing models. This follows the recent mega-order of 220 Airbus aircraft in late 2023.
