Airlines with the Best Salaries and Benefits for Cabin Crew

Airlines with the Best Salaries and Benefits for Cabin Crew

Let’s just admit that when looking for a job, salary is always the number one factor, followed by benefits, working environment, and then career growth. The same goes for flight attendants choosing an airline. While some also include the number of destinations as they would want to experience traveling to different places, the number one factor is usually salary. As such, here is a list of airlines with the highest cabin crew salaries and the best benefits.

But of course, when choosing an airline, I always encourage everyone not only to look at salaries and destinations but also to consider the working conditions and the cost of living in that particular country. While it may look attractive when converted to your local currency from your home country, it will be different when you are already in a different country working for that airline.

These figures again are estimates, and cabin crew salaries will usually depend on flying hours, seniority, and destinations.

Top Airlines with the Best Salaries and Benefits

Alaska Airlines: Boasting the highest average salary, Alaska Airlines stands out with its progressive employee programs. Profit-sharing and bonuses add to the base salary, and opportunities for advancement are well-regarded. However, the airline primarily operates within the United States, limiting international exposure for those seeking diverse destinations.

United Airlines: With a strong global network and competitive salary structure, United Airlines offers experienced cabin crew the potential to earn six-figure incomes. However, the vastness of the company can sometimes translate to a less personal work environment.

American Airlines: Renowned for its extensive training programs and strong union representation, American Airlines offers competitive pay and benefits. However, the seniority-based system can affect salary progression for newer crew members.

JetBlue Airways: Focusing on growth and innovation, JetBlue Airways offers a dynamic work environment with opportunities for rapid advancement. While the starting salary might be lower, experienced crew can reach impressive income levels. However, layovers and irregular schedules can be demanding.

Delta Airlines: Seniority plays a significant role at Delta, where veteran crew members can achieve top earnings. International routes and per diem allowances contribute to higher incomes. However, the seniority system can impact initial earnings for newer crew members.

Hawaiian Airlines: Combining competitive pay with the allure of island destinations, Hawaiian Airlines offers a unique work-life balance. However, the smaller network limits career progression opportunities compared to larger airlines.

Emirates Airlines: Tax-free salaries and luxurious perks like free accommodation set Emirates apart. However, the long-haul routes and demanding lifestyle might not suit everyone. Additionally, strict regulations and cultural differences can require significant adjustments.

Allegiant Air: Offering a healthy work-life balance with shorter routes and manageable schedules, Allegiant Air caters to those seeking stability. However, the lower salary range compared to other airlines might be a drawback for some.

Beyond Salary

Salary and benefits are crucial, but work culture and overall well-being are equally important. Research airline-specific factors like:

  • Schedule flexibility and layovers: Do rotations suit your lifestyle preferences?
  • Training and development: Does the airline invest in ongoing learning and career advancement?
  • Union representation: Does the airline have a union, and what are its benefits and limitations?
  • Crew camaraderie and support: Do reviews paint a positive picture of the work environment?
  • Cost of living: How high or high low is the cost of living of a certain country in relation to your airline’s salary offer?

Ultimately, the “best” airline depends on your individual priorities and career aspirations. Carefully assess your values, desired lifestyle, and long-term goals before making a decision. Utilize online resources, connect with current cabin crew, and attend career fairs to gain first-hand insights. Remember, it’s not just about the numbers – it’s about finding the airline that aligns with your personal and professional aspirations.

Last but not least, it’s actually not about how much you earn, but how you handle money. Even if you earn six digits a month, if you don’t know how to save, invest, and manage your finances, then you will always be in financial trouble.
