To be a flight attendant, you must learn to smile more often

A flight attendant’s uniform includes a smile. Air travel can be stressful, and a flight attendant’s smile simply communicates, “it’s okay, you’re safe with us.” It spreads positive energy and makes others happy. As a result, if you want to be a flight attendant, you must learn to smile more frequently. This is one of the first steps toward becoming a cabin crew member.

Some airlines expect you to smile and greet everyone and everything that moves

When you begin your cabin crew training after passing the airline’s recruitment process, the first rule you’ll be taught is to greet everyone and everything that moves. Even cats and dogs! You must greet everyone, regardless of who greets first or if they do not return your greeting. You even have to greet people that you don’t know, regardless of anything. More than anything, you must greet everyone with a smile.

Whenever I visit an airline’s headquarters for a graduation or a meeting with their in-flight department, everyone greets me, especially the flight attendant trainees. everyone! They smile and greet me, and I, of course, return the greeting. I became so accustomed to greeting everyone in that building, including the trainers, trainees, security guards, maintenance personnel, OJTs, and everyone else!

A flight attendant is more likely to smile.

So, let’s get back to why greeting and smiling at everyone is one of the first steps to becoming a flight attendant. Of course, the most important factor is having the right attitude.

First and foremost, when you begin flying, you must greet each and every passenger with a smile, regardless of whether they return the greeting. Second, flying can make some passengers nervous. Smiling and greeting them helps to set the tone for a pleasant and relaxing flight. Third, each passenger has a unique story. Some may be extremely nice, while others may be a headache. Some may be flying for a vacation, while others may be flying for a sad occasion. Smiling makes everyone happy and gives passengers the impression that they are being well taken care of during the flight. It gives passengers the impression that they are in good hands.

As flight attendants, your smile isn’t just a perk; it’s a requirement. Your recruiters will look at your smile during the hiring process. It must appear friendly and genuine.
