Regardless if you have flying experience or are a fresh grad, you are welcome to apply. I now share with you the details of this recruitment event and I will also be giving you tips. These tips were based on the results of my observation in the previous recruitment held at Golden Success Flight Attendant School.

Tips and advice to become a PAL Express cabin crew
The PAL Express cabin crew screening is a 4-stage process where you will be motivated right after if you made it or not. After registering, your height and BMI are checked, so please do make sure that your weight is at least proportionate to your height. If you have to diet now and exercise, please do.
Second is the impact interview and go-see at the same time. This stage has the highest attrition rate and I want to focus here. Now, this is called an IMPACT interview because the recruiters will check your impact on them. Without even talking, you have to immediately STAND OUT. Yes, that is the term, stand out. They also do go-see to check if you have visible marks.
Anyway, here are my tips based on my observations during the last PAL Express cabin crew open day recruitment at Golden Success Flight Attendant School.
You are already observed by recruiters and panelists the moment you step in the venue
You are already being observed the moment you enter the venue. Recruiters and panelists may sometimes step out of the room to go get water however, they are already checking you even while you are in line. They try to remember the numbers of those who already begin to stand out even if you are seated.
- Sit up straight and make sure you are already well-groomed even if you are in line. Do not slouch while seated. If you are standing, try not leaning on the walls and minimize standing on one leg. Straight body all the time.
- Go converse with other applicants. Ask for their names, make friends, and go socialize. Sometimes, recruiters can ask you how many friends you have made while in line. Or, they check if you are socializing with others. Smile always, and show that you are enthusiastic about talking to them.
- Greet people with a smile, even if you don’t know them, or even if you do sound like a robot. This is a plus point for the recruiters because once you start training, you will be doing this.
Check your grooming
Grooming takes days and even weeks of preparation. This does not happen on the day itself only. While your grooming on the day itself matters a lot, you will need to prepare for this.
- Make sure you have clear complexion. No this is not about skin tone, this is about having clear skin. So make sure you have no blemishes such as pimples, blackheads, and warts. A clear and smooth complexion usually stands out.
- For men, please make sure your clothes are well tucked. You will need to fold your sleeves, but make sure you fold them neatly. Your clothes also have to be well pressed even if you have been seated for long hours.
- Be conscious of your hair, Make sure it is well combed and brushed. For the ladies, make sure that it is well bunned.
- Make sure your shoes are clean. No matter how neat your clothes are, having dirty shoes can take away “pogi points” from you.
Always smile and give it your best smile
A smile is part of a flight attendant’s uniform. Even if recruiters are not talking to you and even if you are not in a face mask, always give it your best smile.
- If you are being interviewed in a group, even if recruiters are not talking to you, keep that smile. While others are talking, you can look at them and nod your head as though you enjoy hearing them talk.
- Make your smile come out natural, and not forced. You can practice this at home and as part of your preparations. Think positive thoughts, and watch comedy shows. Feel good all the time.
Your body language matters will matter a lot
Even if the recruiters are not talking to you, they are already observing you. Hence, your body language will spell the difference if you do stand out or not.
- Don’t stand on one leg. Recruiters will get the impression that you are lazy.
- Avoid fidgeting while talking or standing. Recruiters may get the impression that you are not a confident person.
- For men, stand -up straight but open the space. Elbows somewhat out, legs somewhat apart, or at least maintain a foot-distance between your two feet. When you talk, you can use your hands to stress a point. Just don’t look too stiff.
- For ladies, you can clasp your hands in an open cup position. When you start talking, you can use your hands to stress a point.
I will have a vlog about this soon.
Look at your recruiters straight.
I know it is hard to look straight into the eyes when you talk. Usually, during the PAL Express cabin crew recruitment, the recruiters make you stand from a distance. Now it is easy to look at their eyes straight but if you are having a hard time, just look at that space between their eyes. Eye contact can make a strong impact.
What is being checked during group dynamics?
Part of PAL Express’ recruitment process is group dynamics. So what do they check here? First, they want to check your social skills. Always remember that as a PAL Express cabin crew, you will be interacting with different passengers of different personalities. You will also be working with a different set of cabin crew every day. They want to see if you are a good listener too and how to engage with other people. Also, they check how you work in a team. Always remember too that being a team player is important in becoming a PAL Express cabin crew.
Your impact, confidence, and grooming are indeed key in making it through the cabin crew recruitment of PAL Express. You will need to practice at home and in front of other people.
Good luck to all who will be joining the upcoming PAL Express cabin crew recruitment in Cebu!
