AirAsia Philippines is gearing up to transfer all its domestic flights from NAIA Terminals 3 and 4 to NAIA Terminal 2 on July 1, 2023. This move is part of the Manila International Airport Authority’s (MIAA) schedule and terminal assignment rationalization (STAR) program.
Collaboration for a Seamless Transfer
In preparation for the transfer, AirAsia Philippines’ Communications and Public Affairs Country Head Steve Dailisan recently attended a coordination meeting with MIAA General Manager Cesar Chiong and MIAA Terminal Managers. The team discussed the airline’s plans for moving its domestic flights to NAIA Terminal 2, including the proposed location of check-in counters at the terminal’s south wing.
Enhancing the Customer Experience
The transfer to Terminal 2, dubbed “The Winning Move,” is expected to significantly improve the customer experience and benefit the traveling community. AirAsia Philippines CEO Ricky Isla praised MIAA’s STAR program, stating, “We call it the winning move because it will enable AirAsia to expand its passenger capacity, benefiting from the terminal’s larger space for check-in, boarding gates, baggage carousel, and arrival. Ultimately, it is the customer experience that we want to champion through this winning move.”
MIAA General Manager Cesar M. Chiong also emphasized the STAR program’s goal of improving customer experience by reducing terminal congestion. He added that MIAA has been coordinating with affected airlines and stakeholders to ensure the public is well-informed and that there will be minimal to no disruption during the transfer.
Keeping Guests Informed and Prepared
AirAsia Philippines has been proactive in informing its guests about the upcoming transfer, leveraging social media announcements and sending pre-flight notifications via SMS and email.
Currently, AirAsia Philippines operates flights from Manila to 11 domestic destinations, including Bacolod, Bohol, Caticlan, Cagayan De Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Kalibo, Puerto Princesa, Roxas, and Tacloban.
The airline reminds guests to allocate at least three hours for domestic and four hours for international travel to ensure a smooth check-in process. For an optimal travel experience, AirAsia Philippines advises guests to check in through the airasia Super App, airasia.com, or the self-check-in kiosks at the airport.
