AirAsia Wins World’s Best Low-Cost Airline Award for 15th Year

AirAsia has been honored as the World’s Best Low-Cost Airline for the 15th consecutive year at the Skytrax World Airline Awards 2024. This remarkable achievement underscores AirAsia’s unwavering commitment to innovation and value in the budget airline sector.

The Skytrax World Airline Awards, often referred to as the Oscars of the aviation industry, are based on millions of surveys from international travelers. AirAsia emerged as the top low-cost carrier among over 325 airlines. The 2023/2024 survey included over 100 nationalities and 21.42 million eligible entries, reflecting AirAsia’s steady network expansion to over 130 destinations.

During the award ceremony in London on June 24, 2024, Capital A CEO Tony Fernandes expressed his appreciation: “Skytrax champions global standards for airline quality and excellence, and we are thrilled to have risen to this benchmark for the 15th consecutive year. No other companies come to my mind in having achieved such a winning streak, and we are very proud of it. Our guests mean the world to us, and we are reinvigorated by the confidence they have shown by voting for us again. We look forward to continuing to serve many millions more this year alone, with high quality at the best cost.”

AirAsia’s Evolution

In 2001, Tony Fernandes and Kamarudin Meranun transformed a struggling airline with just two planes and 200 employees into one of Asia’s largest carriers. Today, AirAsia operates over 200 aircraft and employs 21,000 staff across Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Cambodia. The airline focuses on making air travel affordable, inclusive, and accessible, playing a key role in enhancing connectivity and boosting tourism across the ASEAN region. The recent launch of AirAsia Cambodia further showcases the airline’s growth and resilience.

AirAsia’s focus on enhancing guest experience is backed by its high safety standards and continuous operational improvements. The airline’s comprehensive ecosystem includes engineering services, in-flight catering, cargo and logistics, and ground operations. With 23 years of multi-hub operations in Asia, AirAsia has continually improved customer experiences through enhancements in booking and journey touchpoints, as well as innovative ancillary services. The airline plans to reactivate its fleet and introduce new aircraft, exploring new routes in Africa and Europe.
