Where are you in your journey to become a flight attendant?

So, where are you on your path to becoming a flight attendant? Have you tried applying and are now making changes? Or are you still waiting for the airline’s training call? What are your current whereabouts? The reason we must always ask ourselves this question is so that we can track our progress. Getting a job as a flight attendant is not easy, and many people give up in the middle.

FA Yna Ramos created the illustration below, which we can possibly use to track our progress toward becoming cabin crew. Of course, there is no way for us to go down.

If you are in the first two steps below, you may want to reconsider your desire to be a cabin crew member. Will you let others decide your fate? Keep in mind that this is your future, not theirs. The second step is extremely important. This is where your desire to be a flight attendant will come into play. If you truly desire it, you are ready and willing to adjust regardless of how high the standards are.

Every step forward is a significant achievement. The third step is to make a personal commitment to becoming a flight attendant. This is typically where you are certain of your “why.” So, after the third step, you make the commitment to yourself that you will become a flight attendant no matter what happens.

The fourth step is knowledge acquisition, and this is where your path to success will begin. You may face stumbling blocks such as rejections here, but that is okay because this is where you will learn what you need to improve. Always be open to suggestions and advice.

Even if you are at the second to last step, you may still fall back a few steps, for example, if you are faced with rejections or turn-downs. When this occurs, get back up, chins up, and climb back up.

On your path to becoming a flight attendant, keep your sights set on being inside that plane, in uniform, serving our passengers, and most importantly, ensuring their safety. Remember to pause and ask yourself, “Where am I now?”

Continue to climb. You have two options: either stay down and watch others climb the ladder, or you will do everything you can to climb the ladder and become a flight attendant. At the end of the day, the decision is yours.

How does this make you feel?
