What Flight Attendants Notice About You When You Board

We often assume that the flight attendants don’t pay any attention to us as individuals when we board the plane and when we’re greeted. But we didn’t realize that the flight attendants were already doing mental sketches of you when they greeted you. For your own protection, they will examine you thoroughly from head to toe. What the flight attendants notice when you and all the other passengers board the plane is a topic we’ll discuss here.

When it comes to keeping people secure, the smallest of things can make a huge difference. Where you sit, the clothes you wear, the way you act, your age, your physique, and so on all play a role. Even something as seemingly inconsequential as footwear can have a major impact on the safety of passengers during an evacuation.

A flight attendant knows everything there is to know about flying. They are prepared for any eventuality and know what to look for, what triggers alarms, and how to respond. It’s a well-kept secret among flight attendants that as soon as passengers board the plane, they begin making quick judgments on them.

It’s now time to talk about things that flight attendants notice about you and other passengers.

How fit you are

Flight attendants’ primary duty is to ensure the safety of their passengers, so how you present yourself to them says a lot about how well you’ll be able to follow that duty. They’ll keep track of who’s on board and who seems like they can help with heavy lifting and other tasks.

Flight attendants make an effort to keep track of which passengers they’ve cleared to sit in the emergency exit rows, as those passengers are responsible for operating the emergency exits in the event of an evacuation.

Flight attendants will frequently look at the rows near the exits. They will move a passenger who is unable to open the doors, such as a person with a disability, from the emergency exit area to make room for someone who can.

If you will need special assistance

Flight attendants are also on the lookout for anyone who may require special assistance, such as newborns, the elderly, or those who have sustained injuries. They wish to see to it that anyone in need of particular attention is given it.

If there is an emergency, flight attendants will make sure that passengers with special requirements are seated in the appropriate location and won’t get in the way.

Your behavior

There’s more to you than meets the eye when it comes to the attention of flight attendants. Your demeanor is also taken into consideration. Flight attendants are in a prime position to pick up on passengers’ energies when they greet them as they board the plane.

Flight attendants observe passengers to determine if they are inebriated, cooperative, or disruptive. Behaviors such as avoiding eye contact or acting aggressively are warning flags.

The shoes you are wearing

The flight attendants always observes the footwear of their passengers to ascertain whether or not they are suitable for swift sprinting. When boarding, flight attendants keep a close eye out for passengers wearing heels, and if they notice someone in high heels, they make a mental note to include a command for passengers to remove their footwear in the event of an emergency.

If you look sick

Flight attendants have protocols to follow in the event that a passenger is suspected of carrying the covid-19 virus.  Additionally, they will ensure that passengers who appear to be ill receive prompt medical assistance while the plane is still on the ground. Flight attendants are equipped to handle medical problems in the air, but they won’t take any chances if they see a sick passenger and get a bad feeling about it.

Flight attendants would also know which seat to immediately approach incase the passengers needs medical attention.

In other words, a flight attendant’s job is more than just saying hello to people when they get on the plane. They already have you profiled for security reasons. These are things that flight attendants try to notice on every passenger, and these are all due to safety reasons.
