Anne Curtis is seen stowing own luggage into overhead bin

We all know Anne Curtis is an A-list celebrity in the Philippines. You would expect her to have assistants carrying her bags, to receive full VIP treatment, and maybe even to be demanding with the cabin crew. She is not. Anne Curtis is far from being a self-entitled passenger, and a video proves it. On board a Philippine Airlines flight, she is seen lifting her own Rimowa luggage into the overhead bin while a cabin crew member assists her. That earned praise from many, especially those in the airline field.

This should serve as a reminder to all passengers not to act entitled when flying. Some passengers treat flight attendants like personal staff and expect everything to be handed to them, including stowing their luggage into the overhead bins. In the video, Anne Curtis boards the plane alone, says hello to other passengers, and then goes to her seat. She lifts her own hand-carry into the bin, with a crew member simply checking that it’s stowed properly. She closes the bin herself and sits down quietly. Anne Curtis may be one of the biggest names in showbiz, but she flies like a regular passenger.

It’s not the cabin crew’s job to lift your luggage

Flight attendants are not required to lift passenger luggage into the overhead compartments. They assist passengers who need help, such as the elderly, PWDs, pregnant women, or those who clearly need assistance. They do this to avoid injuries. Repeated lifting of luggage can cause long-term back and shoulder problems.

If they had to lift even 7kg bags more than 50 times per flight, that would total around 100 lifts on a roundtrip. Cabin crew must stay in top shape to carry out their main duty: keeping passengers safe, especially in emergencies. Their priority is human life, not luggage.

Also, lifting luggage slows the boarding process. Cabin crew have pre-flight checks to complete, and fast boarding is important. Helping passengers settle in quickly is part of that. Stowing luggage for everyone delays the process and isn’t part of their job description.

Anne Curtis did not act entitled

Some passengers feel entitled to special treatment just because they bought a ticket. They demand the crew lift their bags for them, even if they are able-bodied. This is not the crew’s job. They can lend assistance if you genuinely need help only.

On a plane, all passengers follow the same rules. Your status does not give you the right to act above others. Anne Curtis followed instructions, made no demands, and quietly did things on her own. According to the crew, she was respectful and did not expect special treatment.

Let her actions be a reminder to all passengers. Be respectful. Be responsible. If someone as well-known as Anne Curtis can lift her own luggage, so can the rest of us.
