Cathay Pacific is set to enhance its flight frequency between Sydney and Hong Kong, marking a return to its flight schedule strength similar to pre-pandemic times. The airline now proudly offers up to four daily flights from Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport, a move that caters to the growing appetite for international travel.
New Flight Services Announced
Travelers can look forward to the introduction of a new daily service. Flight CX162 will take off from Sydney at 10:55 AM and touch down in Hong Kong at 5:10 PM. The return flight, CX161, will depart Hong Kong at 9:20 PM and arrive in Sydney the following day at 9:35 AM. These flights are in addition to Cathay Pacific’s existing daily services, namely CX110/CX111, CX100/CX101, and CX138/CX139, further expanding options for passengers.
This increase in flight frequency coincides with a significant milestone for Cathay Pacific – the 49th anniversary of their Sydney to Hong Kong route. Frosti Lau, Cathay Pacific’s Regional General Manager for Southwest Pacific, shared the excitement over this development. He emphasized the airline’s joy in returning to the full frequency of passenger flights on this route and reiterated Cathay Pacific’s long-term commitment to the Sydney market. This move is a clear signal of the airline’s dedication to restoring full capacity and connectivity within its network.
Expanding Australian Services
The boost in Sydney services is part of a series of updates to Cathay Pacific’s schedule for the Australian market. Following capacity increases for Brisbane and Perth, the airline is on a steady path to operate around 70% of its pre-pandemic passenger flight capacity by the end of 2023. The new services will be operated by the airline’s Airbus A350 aircraft, which boasts 334 seats. This includes 46 fully flat Business class seats, 32 Premium Economy seats, and 256 Economy seats, ensuring a comfortable journey for all passengers.
