Cebu Pacific Celebrates Pride Month with LGBTQIA Crewed Flight

Cebu Pacific, is raising the bar yet again. This time, it’s not about new routes or fancy in-flight services but a landmark event that embodies the airline’s commitment to diversity, inclusivity, and equity. Celebrating Pride Month, Cebu Pacific launched its first-ever Pride Flight – a bold statement in the aviation industry and a symbol of inclusivity for every Juan.

Cebu Pacific Flight 5J 905 took off from Manila to Boracay, making aviation history. Unlike any other flight, this was crewed by members and allies of the LGBTQIA community. The team included Captain Bensie Tan, Captain Bettina Mercado, First Officer Lorenz Montinola, First Officer Chezka Carandang, Christopher Ian Mau, Kevin Jason Baetiong, Kimberly Naval, Niña Marudo, and Mikee Vitug.

A Celebration at 30,000 Feet

Passengers aboard the Pride Flight found themselves part of an unforgettable celebration. The flight wasn’t just a journey between two cities – it was a celebration of diversity and equality in the skies. They enjoyed Pride-themed giveaways, interactive games, and even the chance to win a complimentary roundtrip domestic flight ticket.

“Cebu Pacific’s culture is deeply rooted in diversity and inclusivity. We’ve strived to create a safe space for every Juan over the years, continually celebrating individuality. Today, we’re thrilled to honor our moment makers from the Pride community with a special flight. It’s a truly remarkable way to begin our Pride Month celebration,” said Candice Iyog, Cebu Pacific’s Chief Marketing and Customer Experience Officer.

Soaring Beyond the Pride Flight

The Pride Flight is just the beginning of Cebu Pacific’s Pride Month initiatives. Throughout June, the airline will host various training sessions and online courses to foster equity and promote gender sensitivity in the workplace.

Cebu Pacific also plans to support the Golden Gays, a non-profit organization, with several fundraising events. The proceeds from these activities will be dedicated to assisting the elderly members of the Golden Gays community.

Pioneering Inclusivity in the Skies

Cebu Pacific isn’t new to advocating for inclusivity. In 2019, the airline made waves in Philippine aviation by hiring the first transwomen cabin crew, Jess Labares and Mikee Vitug. This milestone reinforces the airline’s commitment to fostering an inclusive workplace environment.

Take flight with Cebu Pacific this Pride Month and join in the celebration of diversity and inclusivity. After all, in the skies of Cebu Pacific, every Juan is welcome.
