Cebu Pacific recently received its fourth Airbus A330-900, also known as the A330neo. Last November 6, around 10:42 a.m., RP-C3903 landed in Manila after flying 6,012 nautical miles from Toulouse, France. Cebu Pacific now operates more newer generation A330-900s than older generation A330-300s.
The airline now has three A330-300 or A330ceo aircraft in its fleet, as the A330neo gradually replaces them.
Cebu Pacific, as you may have noticed, is not technically expanding its fleet yet. They are essentially replacing old frames with new ones, all of which are Airbus NEO aircraft. Cebu Pacific’s goal is to transition to an all-Airbus NEO fleet of sixteen A330-900, ten A321XLR, twenty two A321neo, and twenty one A320neo by 2028. However, by 2028, they will have more capacity than ever while operating a leaner and more efficient fleet.
More efficient aircraft
Cebu Pacific is reaffirming its commitment to more environmentally friendly operations. In addition to transitioning to an all-NEO fleet by 2028, Cebu Pacific plans to use SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel) across its entire fleet by 2030.
The Cebu Pacific A330-900 or A330neo has newer Rolls Royce Trent 7000 turbofan engines that burn less fuel than the A330-Rolls 300’s Royce Trent 700s. The Trent 7000 engine generates 72,834 lbf of thrust, giving the A330-900 a range of 13,334 kilometers. The aircraft can carry up to 460 all-economy seats and has a maximum take-off weight (MTOW) of 251t.
The A330-300, on the other hand, has a range of 11,700 kilometers and a seating capacity of 436 passengers. The aircraft’s maximum take-off weight is 242 tonnes.
I believe that Cebu Pacific is expecting another A320neo this year, bringing the number of A320-271s to eight.
