The demand for post-covid travel is increasing, and Taiwan-based airline China Airlines is capitalizing on this. China Airlines will begin four-times-weekly direct flights between Cebu City and Taipei on December 1st, using their brand new Airbus A321neo.
The Cebu route will assist China Airlines in capitalizing on the transit market, which connects flights to major cities in North America and Europe. The resumption of services, as well as increased frequency of flights to Southeast Asian destinations, are part of the strategy to target the transmit market.
The Taipei-Cebu route will begin on December 1, with direct flights taking only three hours. Every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, flight CI705 will depart at 7:40 a.m. and arrive at 10:35 a.m. local time. The return flight, CI706, will leave at 11:35 a.m. local time and arrive at Taoyuan International Airport at 14:30 p.m.
Increasing flights between Taiwan and Philippines
China Airlines will also increase their frequency between Taipei and Manila to fourteen flights per week beginning in October. In addition, beginning in October, the Kaohsiung-Manila route will be expanded to three flights per week.

China Airlines Airbus A321neo
China Airlines ordered 25 A321neo aircraft, 11 directly from Airbus and 14 through lease agreements. The A321neo will form the foundation of CAL’s single-aisle fleet, complementing the company’s existing A330 and A350 aircraft.
The aircraft is powered by Pratt & Whitney PW1100G engines and seats 180 passengers in a two-class layout. The A321neo incorporates the Airbus Cabin Flex, which enables optimal use of space by relocating various fixtures and fittings, providing the highest levels of passenger comfort.
CAL’s A321neo will be able to fly on routes of up to seven hours from Taipei.
CAL’s A321neos also come with a Cargo Loading System that enables container cargo operations, further reinforcing the airline and Taipei’s position as a global air freight hub.
