Emirates and SriLankan Airlines are joining forces to make travel easier for their passengers. The two airlines have signed an interline agreement that kicks in right away. This deal lets passengers of both airlines fly to new destinations using just one ticket, and it also simplifies the baggage process.
More Choices for Emirates Passengers
If you’re flying with Emirates, this partnership opens up 15 regional destinations that SriLankan Airlines serves via Colombo. This includes two new spots in India—Madurai and Tiruchirapally—as well as Gan Island in the Maldives. But that’s not all. You can also fly to other places in the Far East and South Asia like Cochin, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Malé, Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Jakarta, Guangzhou, Seoul, and Tokyo. All this comes with the perk of a generous baggage policy and the ease of checking your bags through to your final stop.
On the other hand, if you’re a SriLankan Airlines passenger, you can now connect to 15 cities that Emirates serves beyond Dubai. This includes cities in the Middle East, Africa, Russia, and the US. So, you can fly Emirates to places like Bahrain, Amman, Dammam, Medina, Cairo, Muscat, Nairobi, Moscow, Tel Aviv, and several US cities such as New York JFK, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Boston, and Houston. Plus, you’ll get to enjoy a premium travel experience and other partnership perks.
What the Execs Are Saying
Adnan Kazim, the Chief Commercial Officer at Emirates, said the partnership aims to give customers more options for their travel plans. He emphasized that the deal allows for smooth travel to unique destinations in India and the Maldives via Colombo. Richard Nuttall, the CEO of SriLankan Airlines, echoed this sentiment. He said the partnership aims to boost connectivity to and from Sri Lanka, benefiting both local and international passengers.
You can book these travel itineraries right now. Just go to emirates.com or srilankan.com, or check with your favorite travel agencies online or offline. Emirates has been flying to Sri Lanka since 1986 and has carried more than 11 million passengers to and from Colombo. They currently offer two direct daily flights to Colombo, plus an extra daily service via Malé.
