The Emirates Group has announced a hefty bonus for its employees, amounting to 20 weeks of their salary. This reward comes as the company celebrates record-breaking profits, and employees will receive this payout with their May salaries.
In an email to staff, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, expressed his gratitude. He praised the employees for their “heroic efforts” and dedication, which he believes have powered the group’s collective ambitions. “You deserve every dirham of the 20-week profit share,” he wrote, recognizing their hard work and achievements.
The group’s workforce has grown by 10%, reaching 112,406 employees, the largest in its history. These employees come from over 170 nationalities and are spread across 84 countries. This diverse and growing team reflects the group’s global operations and expanding reach.
Emirates group employees are thrilled with the bonus. One employee, speaking on condition of anonymity, shared their excitement, saying, “I was hoping and praying for the payouts. It is less than last year, but a bonus is a bonus. The company doesn’t have to give it. But they have, and it is a big amount. I am really happy about it.” This year’s bonus, though slightly less than the 24 weeks’ worth of salary given last year, is still highly appreciated by the workforce.
Record-Breaking Financial Performance
Earlier in the day, Emirates Group reported its best-ever financial performance with a record profit of Dh18.7 billion, a 71% increase from the previous year. Sheikh Ahmed highlighted that the 2023-2024 year will be remembered as a landmark period in the organization’s history. The group achieved key records in revenue, profit, cash assets, and workforce numbers. Emirates’ passenger revenue crossed the AED 100 billion mark for the first time, demonstrating the impact of forward-thinking strategies, smart investments, and a talented, committed team.
The financial report also outlined future growth plans for Emirates. The company expects continued positive business outlooks, with strong, sustained demand for international air transport and travel. Emirates will receive 10 new A350 aircraft in the coming year, with the first unit joining the fleet in August. Additionally, five new 777 freighters will boost the group’s cargo operations in mid-2024.
The group plans to continue hiring talent to support this growth. The email stated, “We are scouring the world for thousands of cabin crew, pilots, engineers, customer service agents, IT professionals, and other specialists.” dnata, part of the Emirates Group, also intends to recruit thousands of new colleagues by 2027 to strengthen its operations and achieve its medium-term goals.
