We must understand that airlines can open only a limited number of slots for flight attendants. Even if all applicants are qualified, they will only select the best of the best depending on the number of cabin crew they need. Hence, getting in can be very competitive. Allow me to share the recruitment and interview process for flight attendants.
Please note that the screening process may differ per airline, so I will outline the most common process and steps to prepare for. This process may or may not be followed exactly, but I hope it will help you prepare for the interview.
Preparedness is key to passing the cabin crew interview. Many people want to be flight attendants, and airlines can only accept a few, depending on the required number needed to operate efficiently and optimally.
Do not blame the high standards. Yes, airline standards are getting higher because applicants have always raised their own standards too. Airlines cannot accept everyone. If they did, they would end up going bankrupt due to excessive manpower.
Pre-Qualification Screening
Airlines have specific height and arm reach requirements for flight attendants to ensure they can perform safety-related tasks. These requirements vary by airline but generally require candidates to reach a certain height without shoes. The arm reach check ensures candidates can access safety equipment and perform essential duties. Candidates must meet these physical requirements to proceed to the next stage.
Airlines require flight attendants to maintain a professional appearance.
