Korean Air Unveils Special BLACKPINK Livery

Korean Air fans are in for a treat, as the airline has revealed a special Boeing 777-300ER livery featuring the globally renowned K-pop group, BLACKPINK. This unique aircraft is part of South Korea’s bid to host the World Expo in Busan in 2030, and fans of the sensational group can expect to see it at various international airports.

BLACKPINK Takes Flight

In an effort to support their World Expo 2030 bid, Korean Air has partnered with YG Entertainment to become the official airline sponsor of BLACKPINK’s world tour. With over 1.5 million fans worldwide, the group is the perfect brand ambassador to showcase Korea’s vibrant and influential cultural scene. The BLACKPINK-themed Boeing 777-300ER started its journey on May 4th, departing from Seoul Incheon for Paris Charles de Gaulle. The aircraft will make stops at multiple destinations served by the 777-300ER fleet, such as Frankfurt Airport (FRA) and San Francisco International Airport (SFO).

The special BLACKPINK-themed aircraft was unveiled at an event in one of Korean Air’s hangars at Seoul Incheon Airport. The Prime Minister was impressed by the new livery, stating that it represents Korea’s dynamic and influential cultural scene that has captivated the world. He also expressed gratitude to Chairman Cho and the Korean Air team for their initiative in steering the bid effort. Korean Air Chairman and CEO Walter Cho believes hosting the World Expo is an excellent opportunity to increase Korea’s presence on the world stage and that the airline is proud to play a role in the bid.

Promoting Busan’s World Expo Capabilities

In addition to unveiling the special livery, Korean Air has been actively promoting Busan’s capabilities to host the World Expo. The airline provided travel arrangements for the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) Enquiry Mission in April and is featuring promotional video clips on its inflight entertainment system, as well as at Seoul Incheon International Airport lounges. Korean Air’s inflight magazine, Morning Calm, also highlights Busan’s potential to host the World Expo through promotional articles.
