Local airlines are hiring flight attendants with or without experience

I was right! I remember in 2020, I told some people that airlines may begin rehiring cabin crew in 2 years’ time, especially those who were retrenched. Now, different local airlines are hiring flight attendants once again, and now they have opened the doors to the new ones!

Currently, four local airlines are hiring flight attendants namely, PAL Express, Cebu Pacific, AirAsia Philippines, and Royal Air. Also, three of these airlines have organized open days or what we call walk-in interviews where aspirants can just proceed to the venue and be screened that very moment!

Below are some details of the airlines that are hiring flight attendants as of this writing, June 10. Please do note that airlines have the right to make changes to their schedules without prior notice given that the situation is still fluid.

PAL Express

PAL Express is Philippine Airlines’ domestic subsidiary flying 100% domestic scheduled passenger flights. They have yesterday just announced a cabin crew open day happening at Golden Success Flight Attendant School, 840 GS Bldg. M.F. Jhocson, Sampaloc, Manila on

Cebu Pacific was the first local airline to recall their flight attendants who were retrenched. They were also the first ones who opened their doors to cabin crew aspirants with no experience. The application is still done online, as of this writing. Though I am personally quite optimistic that they may soon accept walk-in applicants due to their rapid expansion.

  • Must have completed at least two (2) years of college or equivalent.
  • Preferably has previous experience as a Cabin Crew, particularly A320/321/330 qualified.
  • Must meet the minimum height requirement of 5’3 for females, and 5’7 for males.
  • Candidates without prior experience as a Cabin Crew may also apply.

AirAsia Philippines was the first local airline to announce a cabin crew walk-in interview after two years of lockdowns. This will be held on June 11, 2022, at the NAIA Terminal 3 MIAA Function Hall on the 3rd floor. However, this event will only be held from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm.

As for the requirements and qualifications to be part of AirAsia, please do take note of the following:

  • Open to both male and female
  • Willing to be based in Clark, Cebu, and Kalibo
  • With clear complexion and good set of teeth
  • With weight to height proportioned ratio
    • Minimum height female: 160cm
    • Minimum height male: 170cm
  • At least a senior high school graduate
  • Fluent in English and Filipino. Of course being multilingual is an advantage

Please do not forget to bring the following requirements itself on the day of the event.

  • Updated CV/Resume
  • Copy of valid passport (at least 1 year)
  • Full body photo
  • Headshot photo

Royal Air

Looks like Royal Air passenger services will be back as they have been flying all-cargo flights for the last few months. As such, they also have announced a walk-in interview event which is happening on June 8, 9, 13 to 15, 2022, from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm. This is happening at the Royal Air Parañaque Office (Columbia Complex Bldg., Ninoy Avenue, Parañaque City).

What to bring:

  1. Detailed CV with full body photo in Business Attire.
  2. Copy of valid passport.
  3. Copy of vaccine card with booster.

Please wear proper business attire.

For the ladies:

  • Do not wear stockings.
  • Do not wear pants.
  • Fix your hair neatly with a bun.

Now, here’s where things need to be clarified. I was able to confirm from Royal Air that while they do prefer those with a minimum height of 5’3″, below 27 years of age, and a high school graduate at least, these are just “preferred” qualifications. However, these should not stop others from applying regardless of height, age (above 18 of course), and educational level. The reason why Royal Air did not put any specifics with regards to qualifications is that they want to encourage everyone to apply.

In a way, these qualifications are just a “guide”, but in no way a deterrent for all to try and apply.

Now, if you will ask me “I am just 5’2″ in height but I want to apply. Should I still go?” Of course, I would encourage you to do so. Sometimes, airlines can make exceptions for those they feel are well fit for the job amidst height and age.

Let these not stop you from trying!

So good luck to everyone applying! I wish you all the best and I can’t wait to see you with your wings and uniforms!
