Singapore Airlines Recertified for Perishable Cargo Handling

Singapore Airlines has recently earned re-certification from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) for its superior handling of perishable products via its Singapore hub. Valid for three years starting February 1, 2024, this re-certification is based on the IATA Perishable Cargo Regulations. It underscores Singapore Airlines’ commitment to the highest standards in food safety and minimizing waste in the supply chain.

Customers of Singapore Airlines can be confident that their time-sensitive and temperature-controlled cargo will be transported with reliability and efficiency through the airline’s THRUFRESH service. This service includes priority uplift and handling, rapid ramp transfers, cold room facilities at Changi Airport, and dry ice top-up for transhipments, ensuring the integrity of perishables throughout their journey.

In its endeavor to maintain the quality of perishable shipments, Singapore Airlines has established quality corridors within its cargo network in partnership with leading terminal operators and ground handlers worldwide. This initiative, started in 2021, ensures product integrity at every step of the journey, adhering to IATA standards. Presently, nine Singapore Airlines stations, including Amsterdam, Barcelona, Brussels, Frankfurt, Ho Chi Minh City, Hong Kong SAR, Hyderabad, Singapore, and Zurich, are certified under this quality corridor network.

This commitment not only serves their customers by delivering fresh, high-quality products worldwide but also positions Singapore Airlines as a leader in the industry.

Back in 2021, Singapore Airlines set a benchmark by becoming the first airline in Southeast Asia to receive the IATA Centre of Excellence for Independent Validators in Perishable Logistics (CEIV Fresh) certification. To this day, it remains the only airline in the region to hold this prestigious certification, further solidifying its role as a frontrunner in perishable logistics.
