Singapore Airlines to Launch Singapore to London-Gatwick Flights

Singapore Airlines is gearing up for an addition to its flight roster, announcing the start of direct flights between Singapore Changi Airport (SIN) and London-Gatwick Airport (LGW) starting in June 2024. This move signifies the airline’s continued expansion and commitment to offering greater connectivity and convenience to its customers.

The new service, set to commence on June 21, 2024, will operate five times a week, utilizing the airline’s fleet of 63 Airbus A350-900 aircraft. Flights departing from Singapore are scheduled for 23:55 on Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, with arrival at London-Gatwick at 06:25 the following day. The flight number for this westbound leg is SQ310.

For travelers heading back to Singapore, the return leg, flight SQ309, will leave London-Gatwick Airport on Mondays, Tuesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. Departures are scheduled for 10:15, with an arrival time in Singapore of 06:20 the next day. All these services are subject to regulatory approval, and tickets will progressively become available for sale from December 19, 2023.

Dai Haoyu, SIA’s acting senior vice-president of marketing planning, highlights London’s significance in Singapore Airlines’ market. The introduction of the London-Gatwick service provides customers with an additional choice for flights between Singapore and the UK. It also creates more travel opportunities to various destinations in Europe and the Asia-Pacific region.

Supporting Existing London-Heathrow Services

This new route complements Singapore Airlines’ existing flights to London’s Heathrow Airport (LHR), which currently operates four times daily. These flights use a combination of Boeing 777-300ERs and Airbus A380s. The addition of the London-Gatwick service will bring the airline’s total number of flights to the UK to 33 services per week. This includes 28 flights from the two London airports and a further five services from Manchester to Singapore using A350-900s.

Convenient Connections for Passengers

The early morning arrival of SQ309 from London-Gatwick opens up convenient connection options for passengers. Travelers can seamlessly connect to other services offered by both Singapore Airlines and its budget subsidiary Scoot. These connections extend to various destinations in Southeast Asia, Australia, and New Zealand.

Stewart Wingate, CEO of London Gatwick, expressed delight in welcoming Singapore Airlines to the airport. He noted that the new flight service underscores Gatwick’s esteemed status and will significantly enhance connectivity for passengers across London and Southeast Asia.

Singapore Airlines will operate the new route using Airbus A350-900s, configured to accommodate 253 passengers across three classes. This includes 42 seats in business class, 24 in premium economy, and 187 in economy class.
