The luggage of Filipino or Pinoy flight attendants will often include more than just the essentials (clothes, emergency supplies, spare uniforms, hygiene kit, and toiletries). As a result, I polled several of our flight attendants to see if there was anything else they always made sure to bring on board. Accordingly, listed below are twelve items that may often be seen in the bags of Pinoy flight attendants.
Most Pinoy flight attendants bring some of these goods on flights with layovers. It’s true that these goods aren’t strictly necessary. But in any event, some preparation has been made in case the aircraft encounters technical issues and is unable to take off at the scheduled time. Dapat ng laging handa
Gimbal mounts and octopus pods
A common pastime for Pinoy flight attendants is taking photos at famous landmarks. What if there is no one there to snap their picture? It is OK to use either an octopus pod or a gimbal stand. Likewise, let’s not overlook the Filipino video bloggers who work as flight attendants. It’s cool that you can make TikTok films in locations like major tourist hubs.
Berocca, Airborne, and Vitamin C
It’s not easy to become ill while traveling to a new nation. Naturally, it is in the best interest of these Pinoy flight attendants to remain in peak form for their subsequent flights. Because there are unprotected coughers there, they also use it as a way to get extra vitamins.
Moisturizer
Moisturizer prevents their skin from becoming dry and patchy due to exposure to the dry jet engine air inside the airplane. Even while water is useful, many people also carry lotion.
Workout Attire
There are gyms at layover hotels, and Pinoy flight attendants use them. Lose the weight you gained from the aircraft food with a good weightlifting session or a run on the treadmill.
Swimwear
Perhaps Pinoy flight attendants won’t need them most of the time, but it’s better to be safe than sorry. Perhaps there is a jacuzzi nearby that you can relax in if the water is too chilly to swim in after a long journey.
Pasalubongs
We Filipinos have family all over the world, and we know that our relatives overseas would love to “pabilin” their cabin crew nephews and nieces with some traditional Pinoy delicacies.
Pocket WiFi
The Filipino culture places a high value on family, so it’s natural that the cabin staff member’s loved ones back home would want to keep in contact. Messenger, Viber, and other video chat applications are a godsend. It’s possible that the cost of roaming might exceed the cost of purchasing a personal WiFi device.
Lots of pens
For whatever reason, after signing the immigration card, many passengers do think the ballpoint pen they received from the cabin crew is a keepsake. It’s a blessing that gel pens and Panda ballpoint pens cost so little in the Philippines. But, wait, the ones from the layover hotels are free!
Lucky Me Pancit Canton
Do not go out without it. Lucky Me Pancit Canton can satisfy hungry Pinoy flight attendants if they decide to skip the local cuisine and instead remain in their stopover hotels if they don’t like the food there.
Traditional Filipino Late-Night Munchies
Some flight attendants bring their own computers or tablets so they can watch Netflix, and snacks are a must for any good movie night. Since Filipino crew members are known to “celebrate” even when there is no real cause to do so, this may also act as pulutan in case.
An Extra Pair of Shoes/Slippers
Comfortable footwear is a pleasure to use. Filipino flight attendants are known for always having three pairs of footwear on hand. Shoes suitable for lounging about in, as well as swimming, such as slippers or flip-flops. They pack an extra pair of walking shoes and maybe a pair for going out at night in a foreign place.
Tablets and Laptops
The use of mobile phones is assumed. Nowadays, it’s impossible for us to stay at home without a mobile device. But for a short time, even a few days, we can live without our portable computers and tablets. Some Pinoy flight attendants, however, cannot function without these gadgets. This is how they pass the time in their hotel rooms if they don’t want to go out and about during their layovers. Some others carry it just in case they can’t get Netflix working on their TV. There are also businesspeople among the cabin crew who use their time away to further their ventures.
First love never dies. I fell in love with airplanes and aviation when I was a kid. My dream was to become a pilot, but destiny led me to another path: to be an aviation digital media content creator and a small business owner. My passion for aviation inspires me to bring you quality content through my website and social accounts. Aviation is indeed in my blood and blog!
