Many of us want to be flight attendants in the future. Dreaming is one thing, turning it into a reality is another. The aviation is making a strong recovery right now and airlines are now hiring flight attendants once again. I am also expecting more in 2023 to be honest as airlines will take delivery of new aircraft. As such, here are some tips to turn those cabin crew dreams into a reality.
All these are based on interviews with various senior crew members, attending training sessions, and following the lives of different flight attendants.
Some tips and advice for our cabin crew aspirants
I now give you some tips and advice to help you prepare for your cabin crew journey. I hope these tips will be the foundation of your journey to becoming a cabin crew.
If you are very serious on becoming a flight attendant, please follow these tips:
- Want this as bad as you want to breathe? This is where everything starts. If you have that “want” to be a flight attendant as bad as you want to breathe, as though there is no other choice, you will do anything just to get it.
- Strive to always be a better version of yourself. You are your competitor. Seek to always be better every day in terms of character and attitude.
- Have the proper attitude. Trust me, everything else will follow. If you want to succeed in the aviation industry, have the proper attitude.
- Learn from mistakes and take them constructively. I admit that I still make mistakes. Instead of giving up or taking things against others, I take it upon myself to learn, improve, and move on.
- The best things in the world don’t come easy. The same thing as the best fruits in a tree is those at the very top, where they get the most sunshine. If you want to get the best fruits, you must climb.
- Have a positive mindset. Shun negativity. It’s okay to feel bad after every rejection but do not allow it to consume you. Stand up after every fall.
- Invest in yourself. If you are overweight, then go see a nutritionist, go enroll in a gym, adjust your diet, and exercise regularly. If you have pimples, go see a dermatologist. You can easily invest in yourself. Yes you may spend money but the returns are even better.
- Don’t stop learning. Experience is your best teacher. Go out and apply. If you make it in, congratulations! If you don’t, learn from it. Winners never stop losing. Losers blame others for their failures.
- Have a mentor, Ahhhmmmm, I suggest having a present cabin crew as a mentor, or, a successful individual.
- It’s not always about trying over and over again, it’s also about the quality of every attempt. If you keep trying and trying over and over again to apply but you are simply the same old joe as the one before, then it’s no use, you’re just wasting your time. However, if you know you made improvements as compared to before, then it’s always worth it. Just make sure that every reattempt shows great improvements compared to your attempt previously.
Start today, not later
Start turning those dreams into a reality today, and not later on. The sooner you start, the more prepared you will be when the airline calls you for an interview. Your time to turn those cabin crew dreams into a reality starts now.
Good luck future flight attendant!
