It is just the beginning of cabin crew recruitment season and I am expecting more opportunities in 2023 as countries open up further. Airlines are now staging walk-in interviews for flight attendant aspirants in order to make it easier for more to apply.
However, a walk-in interview for flight attendant aspirants is not as easy as you think. Walking in is not as simple as going to the airline office, submitting your resume, getting interviewed, and getting accepted. Walk-in interviews are more challenging. Hence, I now give you tips on how you could get prepared for your walk-in interview.
Tips to prepare for flight attendant walk-in interviews
- Update your Curriculum Vitae (CV). As much as possible, do not hide anything from your interviewers as they always have ways and means of misrepresenting. When you sign the application form, you are asked to confirm and sign that all the information you have provided is accurate and true. Be detailed but not too much to the point that your CV will look like one book report.
- Practice talking in front of a mirror or with a flight attendant friend/relative. During walk-in applications, they usually interview you on the spot, so prepare for that. Practice talking and walking in front of a mirror and see if you can make an impact. Practice also your facial expression and body movement. Ask your cabin crew friend to also rundown some questions for you to answer so they can correct the way you talk and deliver your words.
- Know more about the airline you are applying at. Study the fleet, destinations, hubs, its essential history, inflight services, and positioning in the market. Don’t just memorize but understand what you are also reading. Wikipedia has all the necessary information you may need. However, your best source is still the airline’s official website and Facebook pages for updates.
- Do not forget to wear business attire, and please make sure your shoes are clean and your shirt and pants are neatly ironed. Your hair is well combed, and you are wearing the right amount of perfume. Look as sharp, professional, and confident as much as possible. Avoid jeans as much as possible and wear shoes perfect for a business attire get-up.
- Get good rest and sleep. It is important not to feel sleepy during your interview. Getting good sleep keeps you alert and active the following day. Eight hours of sleep would d,o but don’t overdo it. Avoid drinking alcoholic beverages the night before also.
