When is the perfect time to become a flight attendant?

Honestly, there is no perfect time to become a flight attendant. If we are talking about time, it will happen when the opportunity comes. That will, of course, depend on the season and travel demand. If you are asking, “when will my time come” the perfect time to become a flight attendant is when you are fully prepared for it. This will all depend on you.

However, don’t treat this as a competition where you want to become a cabin crew before others. Just focus on your path. Maybe it was the “time” for others while it was not yet yours. Perhaps you still do have to improve on something. Just don’t give up. Life is just like the sun and moon; we will have our own time to shine. “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens,” as said in Ecclesiastes 3. 

Just stay on your path. All our paths are different.

All the flight attendants you see now achieved their dream at their own perfect time and pace. The airline also doesn’t incentivize those who become cabin crew first. All they want is the ideal fit; that is what matters most.

Each flight attendant may share a different story. Some started flying at the tender age of 20; some began at 30 after more than six years of doing their best and working hard to reach airline standards. Regardless of what age they have entered the airline, they still are flight attendants at the end of the day, playing the same critical role in the aircraft.

We will all have that ‘perfect time’ to spread our wings and be a flight attendant

The more we focus on others getting their first, the more we lose focus on our personal goals to the point that we may feel it’s time to call it quits. So please do focus on your path. Here is my advice:

• When someone you know becomes a cabin crew first, be happy for him or her and ask for advice. Ask for tips. Who knows, that person may actually be your angel towards your dream to fly.
• A positive mindset, being what we call “negatron,” will lead you nowhere. See failures as lessons. Learn from mistakes. Please always make it a habit of being a better version of yourself.
• Do not compare yourself to others; instead, compare yourself to the person you were before. You are your competition in becoming a cabin crew.
• Do not allow yourself to be carried away by the comments of others. 

Grab every opportunity, learn from mistakes, and don’t give-up

Aside from these, go out and apply, as you will never learn things if you do not try. “I wear eyeglasses. Will I be accepted as cabin crew?” Guess what, for as long as you do not try and go out to apply, you will never be able to learn. Remember that your time in becoming a cabin crew also depends on how you can cope with the required standards, and one way of knowing these is to go out and take action. If your application is turned down because of eyesight, invest in your eyes if you want this career. We know plenty of cabin crew members who invested a lot in their eyes, skin, teeth, and physique to achieve their goals, and they will tell you the same thing too.

Your time to become a cabin crew will depend on how bad you want this as you will do all to achieve it.

Here’s another thing. Try to have a timeline for making improvements like “in 10 months; I will lose 30 lbs”, “by next year, I’ll have my braces removed so I can have perfect teeth,” and so on. Instead of having a timeline for when to become a cabin crew, have timelines to make improvements towards becoming a cabin crew. A timeline should give you a rough idea of when you may earn your wings.

Ultimately, do not feel intimidated when others become flight attendants before you. Their time came, and so will yours. Keep praying, have faith in yourself, focus on your path, and work hard. Your time to fly will indeed come!
