Your goal to be a flight attendant are yours, and never theirs

Have you encountered someone trying to discourage you to pursue your dream, particularly those who dreams to be a cabin crew? Guess what, your goal to be a flight attendant areis yours, and never theirs. Regardless of what they say, you own your life and your dreams. If becoming a cabin crew has been your desire and goal, go for it. It is better to find passion in doing something you love than to force yourself into something to make others happy.

A mistake of not following my heart

During my younger years, I have always wanted to be involved in aviation. It has been my love and passion since grade 1. As time went by, I encountered a lot of discouragements. “Mahal yan pangarap mo” or “mag empleyado ka nalang sa corporate world at mas may growth dyan” or even “magka open mind ka sa iba at baka yan pala ang para sa iyo.” My mistake? I listened to them than following my heart.

After I graduated from college in 2002, I entered the call center industry and then the corporate world in 2004. To cut the long story short, from that time until 2016, I never enjoyed my career as much as I enjoyed it now. Way back, I never found passion. When people would ask me “what do you do”, I was hesitant to share things because I did not like my career path. I was forcing myself, just to impress others.

When I took the plunge and went for my dreams of involving myself in the aviation world, particularly aviation media, and having my own business there, I found peace and happiness for the first time. I asked myself, “why didn’t I listen to my heart before? Why did I live my life forcing myself to impress others at the expense of my happiness and passion?”

No regrets though. Everything has a reason and no matter what, I am thankful for where I am now. At the end of the day, I still followed my heart and planned my way towards achieving this goal of having my aviation hobby shop and my self-branded website / social accounts.

You own your future and your decisions

So if your goal and dream are to become a cabin crew and you believe that it is your ultimate goal, please follow your heart. If you are going for it, your passion will influence your action and attitude towards achieving it. You will adjust yourself, you will work hard to be better, you will push yourself to meet airline standards, and you will do all to become a cabin crew.

Regardless of what others will tell you, if your becoming a flight attendant is your dream, go for it. The right people will support you.

By the way, when people support you by giving you advice on how to achieve your dream, listen to them, particularly flight attendants who are giving you tips so you can be in their shoes one day. Listen and follow their tips. If you shun them away and if you take their advice negatively, they may end up telling you “no you cannot be a flight attendant because your attitude is not fit for it. When that happens, I think you do have to rethink your options.
